Spending Money in Australia & general TIPS!!

    Hi There,

I was wondering how much money would I need for a 2 week trip to Australia, I have my flights paid, (1050 euro) I have my internal flights to Melbourne paid also (350 euro) and the air b & b paid too for staying in Melbourne & Sydney.

I am flying on my own (bit nervous of that) as my boyfriend flies out the week before me, with his cousin he could get 3 weeks off work & I couldn't. I am going via Abu Dhabi first, then on to Sydney, so god only knows how I will get on! I have never flew on my own for such a long journey.

We are going to Sydney for 4 nights, then flying to Melbourne for 4 nights, & back to Sydney for 5, - In Melbourne we are going to see a UFC Fight (not my idea but my boyfriend and his cousins are big fans)

I haven't been out of Ireland in 5 years, my dad died this year after battling cancer for years, so this holiday is very much needed,

I want to have the best time ever. In peoples opinion would €3,000 euro €3500?? be enough to have a good time? What I want to do over there is:

    Relax,
    eat in nice places,
    go out and socialise,
see the beautiful beaches, and that's about it. Easily pleased. We are going the end of November, I hear the weather should be nice then.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your dad OP - you should have no problems accessing your current account using cash machines in Australia so there isn't really a need to take huge amounts of cash. Don't get cash out on your credit card from the machines though as you will be charged extra interest on that. Hope you have a great trip!

If you have everything paid for and have 3000 euro you will be more than fine. It's about 5000 australian dollars which is more than comfortable for what your planning on doing. You'd be hard pushed to spend that amount on food and drink in my opinion. It's a little more expensive than home for day to day costs but not too much. As a couple you'd probably spend 200-300 on a very heavy booze night. Enjoy the holiday

Great thank you for the piece of mind! Being so far away from home I wanted to be prepared. :) I was hoping €3000 is enough, the boyfriend will be bringing his own money too. So hopefully that's enough! Thanks again.

    3k more than enough.

Rather than bring cash preload an an post fx card or preload your credit card.

Melbourne has free transport so you can use that. Love Melbourne Eye and markets....

2k would do the trick so you have 1k safety net.

Enjoy and sorry for loss this year.

I am going myself around that time. The Aud is very low against Euro at the moment. Interbank rates are hovering around 1.41 Aud to Euro so probably looking at 1.37 Aud to Euro in a bank. You will get much closer to Aud 4,000 for your 3,000 Euro. Enjoy yourself and only spend what you can afford.
