Avast Internet Security Question

I posted this in Malware and Virus removal some time ago but had no response, I presume it is OK to post here?

My Avast Internet Security subscription expires shortly and I am wondering if there are any issues in migrating to the free version of Avast, given that I am now running Windows Defender in W10 etc. etc.

Does anyone know if it is necessary to remove the existing software, via a special removal tool, before downloading the free Avast antivirus software?

Has anyone experienced any issues in doing this, in other words, do Avast allow a free download to a system that already had a paid version, which would be identifiable by email address etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've only ever used Avast Free, but would presume that you should be able to uninstall the paid version and download and install the free version without a problem. I've never given them a legitimate e-mail address when registering either, so make something up. The free version does bug you a LOT to go for the paid version, but I've learned to turn a blind eye to such attempts.

Normal uninstall should work but there is a tool available
