The black ghetto culture makes me cringe. The whole thing from the rap music to the way they act and dress with lads going around with their cap back the front, the gold tooth, the gold chain, full of tattoos with the pants hanging off them all while speaking some form of English that nobody understands. I don't know if it's been mentioned on this thread already, but I detest the way they think they're one of the only democracy's in the world and they have more freedom than anybody else

Just a few minutes ago, I heard a presumably respected journalist on CNN comment about how in most other countries, there would be a coup happening by now and how the media would have been shut down since Tuesday. In MOST countries. My God are they seriously that stupid?

I don't like their obsession with war but it's the strength of the US and British army that allows us to be a neutral country that doesn't need military might.

The culture here basically revolves around alcohol and Catholicism, 2 things that have caused unspeakable damage to generations upon generations yet the majority continue to idiotically continue participating in both.

Plenty of cringe on view here if you walk around any town in Ireland late at night and 90% are severely intoxicated, stumbling and shouting, piles of sick and takeaways strewn about the place.

The overeager customer service in the states is annoying at times but here the way they bark 'You OK?' at you as a greeting isn't exactly welcoming either. It's like they are asking if you are injured or upset instead of offering to provide customer service.

And we have no room to talk about incompetent or corrupt politicians, either.

How does modern irish culture revolve around catholicism? Religion almost does not feature in young irish people's lives today. Only the cultural aspect, such as communions and confirmations and weddings and christmas mass, thats pretty much the height of it

Because voter turnout is so amazing here? 30-35% of eligible voters didn't vote here in the past three General Elections. Nearly 40% didn't care to vote in the gay marriage referendum.

Its probably similar statistics for most countries in the world, not just ireland usa.
72% of eligible voters in the UK voted on brexit..thats their highest turnout in history and while it is a big turnout it still shocks me that such a large amount still didnt feel the need to contribute a vote in such a monumentally important decision for their country

If only 30-35% of eligible voters didn't vote in the US it would be the largest turnout for them in the past 100 years, back when women couldn't even vote.

But that's not to say we could improve too. The coverage and visibility of the US election is many times what it is in Europe, and you have countries with turnouts in the 80's% in the EU
