Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looks like we're back to more of the dry for the foreseeable.

The southeast just ain't getting any rain.
All that falls dries off in a few minutes.

Edit: an overcast but dry day today here and barely nothing forecasted for the south and east tomorrow and Wednesday then into the dry again.

There will be serious grass issues in the south east in the next couple of weeks. In need of rain here, about one weeks grass ahead. Looks like another hay making week.

Everyone around is spreading fert today in the hope of some rain tomorrow.
There's serious grass issues already for lots of people.

I heard one person from laois say it's worse than the winter as they have to buy and feed silage already and they got the downpours recently which Wexford didn't.
Rivers are noticeably drying up now and any bit that falls is soaked up by the land.

Feckall in cork either. Tis rare enuf id need rain but even the ground on wetter half of farm could do with it. Cut silage off some of it two weeks ago and trailers left ruts, they are going hard now. Took out a good bit last week thinking rain over weekend would sort it but have left myself tight now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,181 ✭✭✭Lady Haywire

Bit more dry weather and i might actually be able to run the topper on the wettest field on the farm :D Just to add a bit of comparison to dry farms :pac:

I think moooo we may need to relocate some of those 'power towers' from the northwest down to the south and east. :pac:

Plant hire contractor that does work for me always swears that a great summer follows a fall of snow. Back in spring 95 he had to abandon work here and we had some snow. Turned out a scorcher of a year after.

We're putting in the pipework at present to hook up to the Shannon! :)
You'll receive the drainage fee in the post next month.
There's no need to thank us. We're very civic minded like that in this part of the country.

Ive picked out 2 fields that if needed can be used for ring feeders and bales that are in need of reseeding anyway. 2nd cut silage heading out and hardly 6 inches, with grass like walking on frosty ground here. Hope it floods tomorrow with rain. Leaves starting to go brown at the tips. The rain over last few days is wetting the grass but not the concrete below.
