Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have really bad mosquito bites. That's one thing you don't get in Ireland...

They like Irish blood, the horse/doctor flies are as bad here the last few days.

Fresh morning here in the NW, good breeze out, it's making an attempt at a drizzle here, hard to know which way it'll go.

I'm just hoping these thunderstorms make it as far as wexford.
So far they've cleared Cornwall and are just off Wales. Looks to be on track for Wexford.
Whether they'll survive to here and not disappear is another story.

If you haven't got rain by Thursday in this country then you're phucked! To put it politely.
Back to the big high pressure after that and back where we were again.

It's only a chance that places get rain in these few days this week.
Although you'd have to imagine any downpours should be torrential with all this heat and now today increased humidity.

There isn't going to be enough to make any real difference and the outlook is similar for most july.
The deficit is so bad now that it needs a break in the weather, not a few showers

The only glimmer of hope is that the arctic oscillation is still in a negative phase.
Although looking at the models I'm beginning to doubt that it has much of an influence on low pressure in this country.
You'd think the models if they knew it had a bearing on our weather would be showing it in their charts.
The only other positive for rain here is usually the models have a poor grasp of low pressure coming up from the south into Ireland. But all the above is grasping at straws.

The position at present is not positive for a big lot of rain if any for places.
But sure this is Ireland we're used to this weather. Well maybe in the 1700's we were. :pac:

Going on a tangent. But it's interesting that archaeological finds of treasured objects are nearly always found in wet areas or former rivers, streams. It seems people in those times used to make an offering to a higher power to change the weather from either too wet or too dry.
    Human nature never changes.

Was 25 degrees here in Leitrim around Midday yday.....16 degrees at same time today and windy....was hazy and trying to spit rain all day but never did.

There's a fair wind out there now.

It was dead calm all evening and all of a sudden this northerly wind kicks in a half hour ago. It was so strange and to hear the leaves rustling on the trees I had to go outside.
    Gone cool in it too.

If I don't see rain for five months I'll be happy, different smokes...

Dull, overcast and thankfully a lot cooler here (16c) in north Longford. Just had a drizzle of misty rain that dampened the concrete.

Was lashing rain in Fermoy today. There was steam coming off the ground. It gives hope that there'll be some growth when the rain gets to the rest of us

Clouded over here with last hour or so and a drizzle falling with last 15 mins or so. Just about wetting the concrete. Blue skies appearing again so thats that for now probably.
