Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Miserable day here in Kerry, strong gusts and rain between the showers:(

I'm sorry now that I didn't spread slurry when conditions were good:mad:

Not too bad of a day here.
    10 c breezy Sun shining.
First day you'd really see the grass moving.

No electricity though. I was up at 4.30 this morning and the power was gone. So checked the ESB power check website to see the fault and no fault listed so rang up the 1850 number and gave the MRPN number and then got through to a human who dutifully informed me that I was the first caller to report the fault and informed me if it's a false claim that I'm liable for a €350 fine.
It's out all over the area this morning and it's still not on the ESB website.

Think I may pull the plug on the dry cows out wintering pad.

There's one guy round here with a big pad and most of his land, rented, is across a busy road. I saw him last week spreading with an umbilical and he had a tracked excavator extended over the road holding the pipes over the traffic. It's Kerry so there must nearly be more rain than slurry in the lagoon.

    Tis great weather..

A bit of sunshine would be the icing though.

Seeing the cows out today and the covers of grass and with mild weather still in foreseeable and with a blocked Atlantic and the thoughts of the drought last year and the shortage of silage still fresh in the mind.
You'd nearly think about getting a head start and going out with fert on the silage ground.

I mentioned the same thought about spreading fert for an early cut here to the old boy. He told me not to be ridiculous, mightnt be a bit of growth for the next 2 months as easy as anything else

It's not 'normal' weather like we're used to in this country though. Not since the start of last year really.
    Anything goes now.

If you want to blame it on Solar minimums or whatever. We've had strange weather in those times before in this country with droughts 2 years in a row.

    Anything goes now imo.

Edit: the difference in oul fellas. My father was the same thinking as myself when I brought it up even suggesting I could get a cut on the 1st of May and get another good cut after before any dry weather if it comes takes hold.
I'll rent him out to you.

Wind and more wind. The grass growth of the mild spell is being burnt a horrible brown colour.

I don't need to post this but isn't it great weather?

And then the prospect of 14, 15, 16, 17, degrees for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

    Some winter/spring.

Its been a gas old winter, grazed all winter, slurry all out
Did about 40 acres that is tillering back with urea yesterday ahead of the bit of rain last night and Tuesday's rain
All the prayers to St Anthony answered on weather so far
(But don't tell some folks on the weather forum that he only listened to us farmers this time :p)

Any feeling of spring has been well bannished his evening.

Cold blustery and squalls of rain making it very winter like.
