Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pissing rain with over an hour. Getting sick of it now. Chance the weekend could come with a right blast of cold weather as well

    Thankfully January is nearly over

January is often reasonable, the real pain in hole weather is, here in North Cork anyway, usually over the next 6 weeks.

I had weanlings out for a few hours each day in December, cause as sure as ffff it will not be suitable in early March.

There is savage cold in Siberia at the moment, the chance of a cold snap is reasonable high.

You probably saw the charts yourself but this weather forecasted is only just about 5 days away (next Sunday ).

Minus 10 850 hPa temps with plenty of snow on a brisk easterly.
It's not my cup of tea after 2018. Hopefully won't be as bad but the potential is there.
It was torture trying to prevent cows slipping in the yard after tracks were dug and then when one unit in the parlour was milking the one beside it was freezing again.
Worse for spring producers too over 09 and 10 is that milk is actually in the tanks now whereas then, the cows were still dry.

I dread a repeat of the beast from the east.
    Must look at those charts.

Everyone of them has some sort of cold weather starting this weekend.
It's not high pressure cold and dry but low pressure cold and the other thing.
Mar 18 had the 850 temps going to minus 15 briefly on the east coast. That's what was really doing the damage. Some of the forecasts have it to minus 12. Other's minus 7.

Fcuking hate snow. Beast from the east was bad, 09/10 was worse was winter milking and everything was a bollox starting machinery ever few hours, trying to get the lorries into the yard, more time defrosting everything than milking. I think one day the bulk tank at 3 degrees was 15 degrees warmer than outside

A nice dry day here. First day of spring I'd say, small bit of heat in the sun and animals lying out enjoying it. Grass is starting to grow

Keep a close eye on forecasts over next few days folks, especially those in the East. That windchill is going to bite!

    Seriously in all seriousness now.

I think we all know of the potential for cold and possibly heavy snow for next Sunday through till Thursday and who knows what'll happen after, or even how this exactly will pan out.

So yous are seriously warned now and there may be a serious thread started on here by weather followers to give warning of the seriousness of this upcoming event.
Stay tuned and to the weather forum.
