Such a good quote you repeated it twice. dry start again here. Have bulls in a shed drinking rainwater out of the 'fish tank' and I had to top it up 3 times this week with the hose. Some ppl are predicting a cold winter -11C being talked about.

It seems the "signs" are there of a possible cold winter.
Sun going through a quiet time. (Spotless again today actually).
Enso is in negative territory. (I think slightly negative is best for a cold winter?)
The quasi biennial oscillation over the tropical stratosphere is an easterly/negative phase.

Not sure about -11c though. Bit extreme I think.
A forecast is still a forecast though. Best laid plans of mice and men and all that...

In Rostrevor, weather’s been calm, mild and dry. Stunning Autumn weather, loving every minute.

Noticing over the last few days that there is lots of heavily berried holly around here....generally not a good sign of what’s ahead weather wise.

Gosh it got awful wintery this evening.
Heavy squawls of rain passing over and temperature dumped with each one.

Was heading to mill and 9c leaving the house, heavy shower and 3c warning flashing on the jeep.

Same think happened here in north westmeath

Sky was funny. And the weather passed over it got colder. Had heater on in the tractor

Hit here around 4pm, could see it getting blacker towards the north & temp dropped like a stone! Then we got hail & a bad shower but cleared off after.

Was driving in north Cork around 1pm and there was a shower with very sleet in it, was well suprised to see it hitting the windscreen. Turned into a grand afternoon after that.
Also seen two seperate outfits baling silage today. Not sure what the crop was like but the ground looked fine after the machines.

Cool enough today. 8 to 9c.
Could do with a bit of global warming here.

I see an interesting link that seems to be between cool Atlantic ocean temperatures and heatwaves and droughts in Europe. The recent dryspell being a continuation of this link.
