That cold blast from the east would burn off any grass there is waiting to be grazed by early turn out stock.
Is that what we had in 2013?

Meet a lad turned over this morning in the ditch going to fast on a nongritted road and it snowing.
He got out of the car with no lumps or bumps lucky man.

There’s about a week of more or less guaranteed influence from the high pressure mainly next week
After that it either continues to drive our weather with warm southerlies or very cold easterlies
The met office with all their experience don’t know yet which one it will be and I certainly don’t.

In fairness now that they are on the web, they do give a fairly detailed forecast and have the time to explain all the intricacies of any situation.
It really is some difference to Met eireann's 3 minute slot after the news on RTE. Although Joanna is doing her best to explain in the time allotted.

ill take either influence from high pressure to be honest anything to dry up gound, its definitly the wettest i have seen this farm in ever in mid februrary

Plenty of wintry snow/sleet showers here today bring on this high pressure.

Weather remains brutal in west Galway snow stayed around the yard all day today in the shade, no let up in snow showers or hail all day,. By far the worst prolonged wet weather spell I can remember, it's been raining since last June here pretty much every day, I'd gladly take any dry weather that comes at this stage, if only for my own sanity

    Aw crap!
The weather followers are getting excited about snowmageddon on the weather forum. Not a good sign.

I thought we might just escape with a SE now it looks like we're getting a full on easterly by next weekend and even starting Thursday on some models.

    Noooooooooooo....

Usually an easterly breeze means a lot of dry weather, although it would burn any grass that would be in fields

It can be good for the west of Ireland. Bad for the east.

    Hopefully there'll be no snow.
Actually hopefully it still ends up in a southeasterly. Although that still would bring rain or whatever into the southeast off the sea.

Ah who knows what could happen.
