Agh no way, and I was actually reading boards while searching the rice section yesterday, and presumed I was in the right section with all the spaghetti, sauces etc...

I'll have another look today.. going to the same tesco to buy spaghetti, passata.

Tesco sell their risotto rice in the specialist section as opposed to the rice section........

Smoked coley, sweet potato chips, home made, cauliflower. Food these days is amazingly inexpensive. By using eg aldi super6.... that whole meal cost just over e1.50 .. replete.

The slow cooker is putting us hands on cooks in the history books.:D

You don't have to preach to me, I love the contraption. I was meant to fry off the veg before bed, and dissect the chicken from the bone. No chance, in the cot by 8. Another plan was to get up early, alas the pull of the pillow was fierce @0630. So I got home around 3 and stuck them all in a pot for 2 hours. Used a half jar of Balti sauce(I've got a taste for it now and will make my own going forward) and threw in a mountain of veg with the chicken. Resisting the urge for a second bowl as there's a good few weddings coming up again this year.

Whispered - yes me too! I had this gorgeous wild mushroom risotto one time for lunch in work a few months ago, and want to make it at home ever since..

This isn't to do with dinner but I'm fairly basic when it comes to lunch, soup, sandwich kinda girl but Im trying to cut down my bread intake, so just had a bowl of soup in a cafe earlier, so had a late lunch/snack when I got home,

Homemade guacamole (the only kind thats good!!) a small bit of hot salsa spread on a cracker with sweetcorn on top. Sooo delicious!

All this talk of risotto so I made an Asparagus risotto for my dinner with lots of parmesan on top.

I'm in the grip of the lurgy and smothering so Mr. Dizzy is doing most of the cooking this week. Tonight we had a lovely slow cooked minced beef stew with baby potatoes and I could taste it properly, so I think I'm on the mend :)

Baked salmon with hollandaise, mashed potatoes, green beans. Macon lugny wine alongside. Delish.....if perhaps a bit healthyðŸ˜

Chicken satay with rice & Asian-style slaw. Wasn't my normal satay recipe (can't find it :() but was ok.

Refried/baked cheesy beans with nachos and guacamole. And a lovely pint of pils.

So I made risotto. Confession; I've never eaten it before so I don't know how it was compared to how it should be. Really enjoyed it though!

Had 2 punnets of mushrooms to use up, so I made mushrooms in a garlicy cream sauce with tagliatelle. Some fresh thyme and parsley, dried porcini powder for extra oomph, and a drizzle of truffle oil over the top.

Didn't even take 20 minutes to make, but tasted ever so lovely and refined :D

Beef casserole slow cooked since this morning with carrots, celery, turnips added near the end of the casserole and a side of broccoli and potatoes. Dessert was a warm comforting apple tart.

Roasted pork belly with roast potatoes, veg, apple sauce and gravy.

Shepards pie (or more accurately a deconstructed cottage pie...). Used my mams recipe and it actually tasted the same :D

Tonight is bacon and cabbage, with some other veg and parsley sauce.. trying to cut down carbs so no potato for me....can't wait though... comfort food at its finest

Ugghhh regarding the risotto situation, looked all over the 'ingredients' section of tesco, aswell as grocery, and main rice/pasta section, nowhere to be found still :( other than a packet of knorrs risotto which you could throw on the hob, but meh, wanted to do it myself.... it's just not meant to be. Ah, soon :D

Gloomtastic would you have a recipe for that? Have had a longing for some sort of pasta bake the last while but can't do a lasagna because my oven isn't working.
That looks like it might work in individual dishes in the air fryer?

I bought the conchiglioni pasta and then looked for a recipe.

I was in Dunne's today, seen trout fillets of a good size @ €2 each, bought 4 went home and baked 2 of them, done a nice basil and chili sauce and homemade wedges.
I had it done when herself came in at 6:30 from work.
I got huge brownie points and she said she would make it worth my while later, whatever that means.

Hake fillets en papillote with mash & delicious lemony/buttery juices. :)

We had to bin the steamed tenderstem broccoli, but that's a topic for the Lidl thread. :(

IT was way too wet to go to the supermarket this evening so we had to make do with what was in the house. Cheesy chilli kidney bean dip, chive yoghurt, smokey limey salsa, avocado and tomato salsa and nachos. Washed down with a corona.

Went veggie this evening, and enjoyed a meal with the better half.

I made falafels, served with charred peppers and scallions, served up in wraps with chunky salsa and chilli sauce - layered cottage cheese

I highly recommend folks to give this one a go

I'd thank that twice if I could - if I could eat nothing but falafel for the rest of my life, I'd die happy :D

We had what I call "spanish rice" - essentially a vegetarian paella, with lots of peppers, peas, french beans, olives and a bit of chili. Only I put in too much of the chili and ended up with hiccoughs for half an hour.

I consider myself a dab hand in the kitchen, but I made a serious error making that dish last night .

I only went and used the wrong add on attachment on the food processor

Yep, I put the stuff in the blender attachment instead of the bowl and blades ..... The falafel mixture came out much too smooth to be formed into proper patties. Don't get me wrong, the taste was spot on, but they looked more like pancakes than falafel .

Mistake learned. I will be giving them a go again some day next week

Ps, for the love of me, I don't know how that man expects anyone to be able to make that particular dish in "15mins" , took me 45mins.

Yeah it's like maybe 15 mins for a professional chef with all the equipment and everything measured out first. I've been trying the 5 minute dinners videos from Happy Pear and it is not taking 5 minutes :Dhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C40avcU9CE&list=PLb98DDyoMyQramTMRAfiRryuZmN0mtqOS

They're good recipes, if only those lads could cut it out with the "Yo, dudes!"...

I made a bolognese in the slow cooker on Friday and we had it Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was way more tasty on day 3 despite the fact I was a little fed up of bolognese at that stage :D Served with spaghetti on Fri, Sat and just mixed with penne pasta on Sunday. Perfect for a weekend when we were doing a lot of work around the house.
