Slow cooker leg of lamb, steamed broccoli and carrot buttons, and the spuds were finely sliced and oven baked in butter, minced garlic, cream and a small sprinkle of cheese. I've never seen spuds disappear so fast. No pics as I've dropped my phone so much, the camera is decked.

Himself made mango curry which was very tasty indeed, but also an unappetising grey colour.

It really is soup season, last night I made a hot and sour soup, but bulked it out with noodles and veg.

I waited until the kids had wolfed down their seconds before I told them about the capers and anchovies! :)

    Sneaky! :pac:

We had a huge lunch out yesterday so we were on the soup last night too - Italian-y tomato soup, with ham & cheese toasties.

Mrs Billy & The Kids are away, so I've made a coddle to come home to after a few cheeky early evening pints. Dessert will be more of the treats left over from Hallowe'en.

    The Coddle...

I like that you didn't skimp on ambience just because you were eating alone ;)

Done the lamb chettinad recipe that was in the Sunday Business Post mag yesterday with a few cheats for what was in stock (red not green chillies, dried for whole spices in a few cases; I had most of them)

    Smells fantastic anyway.

Slow cooker beef stew. My god did it hit the spot this evening.

Mash was fierce gluey. Didn’t have a masher in the house and made the mistake of trying to finish it off with the stick blender to get the last of the lumps out. Tasted grand but texture was all sorts of wrong.

    Yay for stew season!

    Stew. Enough said

Me and himself have been waiting for this since the summer!

I remember Mrs. B’s cousin made a Shepherds Pie and used the stick blender to make the mash. It was awful. Horrible texture, so gluey. Even went an odd grey blue colour from the broken starch molecules oxidising.

I read here all the time. I thank all the time. A great spot. Here are some recent meals that I love and have made over the last two nights.

Chili and nachos. Sour cream and Mozzarella on top.

It was a bit if a mish mash, let's see how it goes, type recipe.

    I used:
    ****take mushrooms, sliced
    chicken stock
    1 tbsp soy sauce
    A can of bamboo shoots
    2 pork chops
    Firm tofu, cut into matchsticks
    4 tbsp white vinegar
    Sciracha
    Noodles
3 tbsp cornflour, mixed with 4 tbsp water
    1 egg
    1 spring onion, chopped

CHop the pork chops into small strips
Bring the stock to the boil. and then add the soy sauce.
Add the bamboo shoots, mushrooms and pork to the pan, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for about three minutes
Add the tofu, sciracha and vinegar to the pan and bring to the boil again - I also added udon noodles and spiralised carrot and courgette.
stir in the cornflour mixture and keep stirring until the soup has thickened a bit
turn off the heat and pour in the beaten egg, stirrings you do and serve!

Many thanks to New Home for their advice on risotto making. Not as daunting as I thought it'd be.
