As we all know its best to keep your identity anonymous when you own firearms and posting on a public form. However as you can see from most posts there is a little hyperlink with links you post to adverts.ie (if you have an adverts.ie account)

This open a whole new means of identifying you, someone could see you posted a comment about owning a firearm, click the adverts link and see that you are selling a washing machine. Contact you to buy the washing machine and get your address etc.

I think it wise that you disconnect this link, which is quite simple. Simply go to adverts.ie, go to your profile and under "Link your social media accounts", remove the link to boards.ie.

I'm not sure if this has every happened, but to me, better safe than sorry.

It's always good to have security in the back of your mind, but it's a tiny step.

With Facebook, given it's size and the lack of any sort of anonymity, coupled with Twitter, and whatever else is the trend these days there are much larger issues at hand.

Now i'm not saying to lock the doors, grow a beard and become a long haired friend of Jesus, but there are far easier methods for people to identify other people. It should not interfere with your daily life as long as you exercise a certain level of caution.
