    Link here to news story about another mysterious tree felling incident in Salthill;

    http://connachttribune.ie/council-to-contact-gardai-about-felling-of-trees-in-city/

    Does the city council have any Tree Preservation Orders? (TPO) There is nothing on their website or google.

    Tree Preservation Order (TPO)
    - Tree Preservation Order is used to protect selected trees and woodlands, if their removal would have a significant impact on the environment or amenity. Section 205 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (amended), states that if it appears to the Planning authority that it is expedient, in the interests of amenity or the environment, to make provision for the protection of any tree, trees, groups of trees or woodlands, it may for that purpose and for stated reasons, make an order with respect to any such tree, trees, group of trees or woodlands as may be specified in the order.

    Trees, which are the subject of a TPO, cannot be felled, unless the owner applies for planning permission to the local authority.

    With the amount of hipsters who like to dress up as lumberjacks, it was only a matter of time before the authentic chainsaw-wielders turned vigilante.
