I have a query for someone that is travelling to the US in the next few weeks.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/news/no-glasses-nov-1st.html

I am fairly sure that this does not effect ESTA but I just am not 100%. It does not reference ESTA in any of the press releases about the new guidelines. However when applying for ESTA you are not required to produce a photo. The person in question has not applied for an ESTA visa yet but has glasses on in their passport photo.

Edit; How do you edit thread titles...

That advisory applies to people who have to submit a photo for a US Passport renewal or to get a visa to visit the US. If you are visiting as a tourist for 90 days or less and holding an Irish passport, you apply for ESTA approval which does not require a photo so that advisory does not apply.

Any official notice affecting Irish tourists travelling without a visa but with ESTA approval will reference the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) which is not mentioned in that advisory.

Tell your friend to be sure to use the official ESTA site, there are fake sites that charge you a lot more than the official $14....
