if it has always been like this check to see if its set for recirculating . if it is set for venting to the outside you need to check the connecting hose for blockage or the flaps on the outside may be sticking

how do you check if it is set for recirculating ? when i turn on the fan the flaps outside open so thats not the problem. just wondering could it be the connecting hose ? its white like what you would use on a dryer. should it be metal ?

if the flaps are opening it must be set for venting, how far away is the extractor from where the ducting exits the wall ? check the ducting for any obstruction as I have seen birds nest in there
