Setting up an iTunes server?

Looking for a little advice here folks.

I currently have an old mac mini (first intel model) sitting under my TV with plex installed on it. However I haven't turned it on in months (got new ATV).

Currently I have iTunes on my main desktop mac which as a result is always on. the actual files are hidden away on external hard drives.

I was thinking of moving the mini to the attic to act as a headless iTunes server with the hard drives attached to it which would enable me to turn off the main mac.

Is it difficult to point the existing iTunes to this "new" system?

No, I'm pretty sure you just tell iTunes that's where the new library is. It's in settings.
