Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I doubt FIFA really do give a **** about it, and had the FA said nothing and just went ahead with it there probably wouldn't have been anything said.

Surely the problem is not the poppy, its that the FA specifically said that they were going to do something that is against the rules, they highlighted the rule and then they broke the rule. It was shoved in their face so FIFA simply have to respond, what else can they do?

Gods sake, the last thing I want is to defend FIFA but who created this whole situation in the first place?

And the SFA of course, in fact it seemed to be them that were leading the whole thing. Anyone that follows the English team though, will never be surprised at the FA's ability to **** things up.

It would undermine either FA's whole point about just about how important the poppy issue is...if they didn't bother to ask for this agreement in writing or make a note of who said what to who, if indeed they were given assurances at the time that it was not an issue.

Don't know how you come up with it was the SFA leading it The English FA were first to say they were wearing the poppy but to be honest it makes no difference. I reckon FIFA have lost the plot now

Why the hell do soccer fans care about this stuff? Don't we come here to talk about football? This thread isn't about football at all imo

So why didn't you post about football so?

Sport and politics are inseparable. This thread is proof.

    Slap on the wrist really.

It will be interesting what happens in future years since further instances of defying the ban will presumably be dealt with more harshly.

They see themselves as being victims of political correctness and they'll carry on regardless.

The rules are for other countries politics, not British politics. Think of the shame the FA would suffer domestically were they not to honour the men and women who illegally invaded Iraq and murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.

The FAI were fined as well and deservedly so.The FAI look like they aren't going to appeal the fine so have accepted FIFA's verdict and basically admitted they were wrong. The FA have decided to appeal.

It would be a real embarrassment if the FAI appeal because they were clearly in the wrong and I hope they don't appeal.

Ireland's fine is below the threshold for which you can lodge an appeal anyway.

The FAI were daft to do it, and most likely did it out of ignorance of the rules. Whatever their reasons though it certainly wasn't done with the attitude of supremacy the FA demonstarted.

I suppose too that the 1916 tribute isn't as relevant today as the poppy. There's not refugees drowning in the Mediterranean today because of the 1916 rebels

Where did I say the FA were correct.I only responded about the FAI because that was the question posed.

Both were wrong and the FAI and FA have been deservedly fined.

I think it was a bad decision, and sets a bad precedent.

The FA knew in advance that they were breaking the rules, and did it anyways.
Giving them a small fine just shows that big third world countries can easily break these rules when it suits.

They should have gotten a points deduction, playing behind closed doors, or some sort of punishment which does not discriminate between rich and poor.

    ignorance is no defence.

there were four footballs associations fined, were they all displaying "Supremecy" as you call it or was it just the FA?

yes, this is by far the most serious of crimes and is easily on a par with fans repeatedly throwing racist insults at players.

Confused? Well turn on the news and look the kids that Britain made refugees drowning in the Mediterranean. It's happening now.

The poopy represents the good and bad of Britains military history and these deaths occurring everyday are a consequence of the bad

Yes should be treated the same, if they do the same.

Are you saying breaking FIFA rules is OK as long as it's not racist? Or are you just engaging in some whataboutery? There's probably a seperate thread about racism somewhere.

You haven't offered any argument, just insult.

Anyway, it's only foreigners dying. Better that than them ending up in England eh??
