Strong as possible tonight, hopefully we'll come away with a 2 or 3 goal win and have the tie over before we go there in 2 weeks.

Team to face Arsenal: Courtois; Azpilicueta (c), Christensen, Rudiger; Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Alonso; Hazard, Morata.

    Strong team out tonight

****e half from Chelsea but we narrowly played better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,358 ✭✭✭kev1.3s

VAR is some bull****. Atkinson should have given bellerin a red card for tackle on fabregas and it looked like a penalty against Moses too but he bottled both decisions.

    Expecting better things second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

We've started this half a bit better so far anyway.

That was never a red , and as for the peno if he fell straight away rather than take a step then go down it would of been given

Christensen with a terrible miss, ffs.

How are we not winning here.

If we could put away one of these chances that would be great , Drinkwater off and Willian on , thought he was muck myself , slowed things down too much and his passing was poor

O hazard why the pull back , stick it in the onion sack

WTF is that Hazard, jesus christ.

If we could score goals, we'd be a great side.

Missed at least 3 good chances tonight alone.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 7,146 Mod ✭✭✭✭pistolpetes11

Cesc off Pedro on please , we need more pace and movement

Back in the Drogba days he would score from a sniff of a chance , they haven't come by so easy since then

Morata can't even find a simple pass these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Willian is playing f**king CM and we're still playing 352.

WTF is Conte up to, this game is here for the taking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Xhaka gives away two fouls on a yellow and no red, Kante with a foul, yellow card.

    LOL

Type of game we could get done , more worryingly a team comes to make us break them down and were incapable of doing so

Is Morata related to George Weah?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 7,146 Mod ✭✭✭✭pistolpetes11

If Chelsea had a striker that could score goals we might be a half decent team

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 7,146 Mod ✭✭✭✭pistolpetes11

    Player ratings tonight

All Chelsea Team 2's bar Christensen and Courtouis who both get 6's

Arsenal parked the bus. We played them off the pitch but couldn’t finish our dinner.Regarding output we seem have a mental block, can’t finish our dinner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

3 games in a week, 2 against that lot that we should have won but drew.

Performances are dropping across the squad, combine that with the luck we're not getting and theres nothing going right.

2 sitters missed, Hazard thinking hes a Globetrotter when he could have walked it in and hitting the post twice, if we could finish we'd be good.

Only positive is we didnt leave a goal in but that game was there for the taking tonight.

Whatever it is, Conte cant seem to beat Arsenal.

Couldn't agree we played them off the pitch , not many clear cut opportunities come to mind , nor was our football fluid and flowing

That was our weakest team in ages against Chelsea and you still couldn't win. No excuses for you tonight in fairness.

Do you know what I can see that Chelsea team when team news came out , high fives all round and an easy nights work they thought to themselves , and it looked like it from the performance on the pitch for sure !

S**t finishing cost us again, that Arsenal back line due to injuries is woefully under strength .

Apart from lacing up his boots and kicking the players into gear, Conte cant really do much when they decide to turn into Sunday league players as soon as the goal looms large.

Same against Norwich and we didnt even get started in that game, tonight at least we created some chances.

    Save us Barkley. :o

We need something , hopefully Barkley has been bought to replace Cesc in the long run because his legs are seriously starting to slow up .... more

We were all over them the entire game, they barely got out of their half. They created one clear cut chance with a ball over the top, we should have had 2 or 3. Wasn't fluid but, anyways, it should be clear to the board that we need offensive options. I said at the start of the season if Morata and Hazard go through a dry spell we are f*cked. Well it's happened.

Missed the game. How did a full strength Chelsea team draw. Hope when luiz is back throw him up front or Alonso till a scoring forward is brought in.

Hazard has been whoeful lately, I taught when Sanchez came on they he could make the difference because in the league game he was miles better than hazard. On tonight's evidence we wouldn't miss hazard if we were to get good money for him as long as it was used to find suitable replacements.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

VAR was possibly man of the match Christensen was ok TBo had nowt to do but did it ok as was Rudiger and Dave.
How did Moses last 90 minutes he was beyond bad.
Our CF is bereft of confidence Hazard is taking football coaching from the IT Crowd trying to walk it into the net.

Being outtacticed by big Sam was bad but again by Wenger's bus parking good God

Ah FFS man !! he's a great footballer. You can't play well all the time but he's very consistent and i'm an Arsenal fan.

If we don't go back to 3-4-3 our season is doomed.

3-5-2 is far too negative IMO and Conte is killing himself.

Willian came on for Drinkwater and even he managed to stay in CM instead of pushing on, in a game we could have done with winning.

If Antonio doesn't change it back I fear for us. We're given mediocre teams far too much respect with 3-5-2.

ah you're probably right but he's not been great for a couple of weeks now and if he really is making a play to go to real then so be it. I'd rather loose him than say kante at the moment.

352 would be perfect if we could take our chances. We were 343 vs Norwich and didn’t get a shot on target,

I can't see 352 working when there's not enough offensive threat. You're relying on Morata and hazard to carry the team.

Hazards got 1 goal since December 5th and Morata has 3 goals since November 22nd.

There's no threat from CM and Barkley isn't exactly a goal scoring CM either.

Playing 3 attackers gives the opposition something to worry about right now our 2 main threats are in terrible form. Hazard as usual S,**ts the course when a shot opens up instead trying square a ball, any ruthless attacker would have buried it, it's why he'll never be in the top tier.

Moratas movement is exceptional but nobody but azp can find him. His finishing is Sunday league standard and it's costing us. Granted he didn't get an opportunity tonight but I still think the 352 is a huge issue.

There's not enough width or support in asking Moses and Alonso to supply all the width you're asking something that neither are capable of for 90mins. Alonso is great if given time to measure a cross he can't beat a man for pace, moses is the opposite, pace to burn and comes from the Ivanovic school of shocking crossing.

There's certainly a lot to work on anyway for this team but getting g rid of the overly negative 352 should be a start.

If we fail to beat Arsenal at least once this month ill be livid.

Theyve been down to bare bones in the last two games and we've still not managed to beat them.

The sooner a 3 man CM disappears, the better, we beat City away last year thanks 3-4-3 so theres no reason not to use it this year, I dont know why he is persisting with it because its not getting the results we need or deserve.

    Contes record vs Wenger

    1 Win, 3 losses (1 on penalties), 3 draws.

Goals scored 7, Golas against 9.

Thats an absymal record, had it been Jose we'd have won all 7 games. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Some more stats, before the 3-0 loss that forced Conte to change to 3-4-3, Chelsea hadnt lost to Arsenal in nearly 5 years in the league, going back to AVBs 5-3 loss at the Bridge.

Is the one win the preseason friendly on that shocking pitch in China, or another match?

3-1 at the Bridge, Alonso and Hazard scored, not sure who got the other.

Think Giroud got a late Arsenal goal.
