Like the look of this TV a lot but the deal breaker may be the answer to the following question: is there just one audio out connection which would mean you could connect to the soundbar or to an external  receiver/amp but not both?

It would be a major pain to have to switch a cable between the soundbar and a surround sound system so I'd be very grateful if you guys could clarify it for me.

HI Olllaetta, many thanks for your post

The Pana 50DX802 will only have one optical output yea, but there is the ARC channel on HDMi if that would suit for either your amp or soundbar?
Which amp/soundbar do you have or are you looking at?

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for that info.  I've a Yamaha amp which predates HDMI connections so that's an additional problem that will need a converter but I'd have that issue no matter what TV I go for.

Ah right ok. You can get the likes of an optical splitter if that is any help. We don't stock any but they are available online

    http://www.cypeurope.com/store/store/app/product/AU-D12/2-Way-Digital-Audio-Splitter

We can get you this ( and its really the only decent quality game in town ) at just £44.95 with delivery at £6.99

This will actively split the optical output from your ( very nice) TX50DX802 into two so you can route one to your AVR and one to your soundbar.

    Keep us posted,

Interesting.  Good to know there is a solid option and I'll certainly bear that in mind.  Many thanks again.
