Alexa is retarded lately.I cannot get one single Irish radio station to work correctly unless I do a really bad american accent!!!!!

Im seriously considering a switch to Google Home at this stage.

Up to a few weeks ago, I actually thought that Alexa was getting better at understanding queries and commands, but lately I can't seem to even get her to tell me the weather.
And the app still isn't supported on the Play Store? I have a feeling Google Home is going to rocket ahead here.

None of the Rte stations working on this and seems to be the same on TuneIn.

Tried a few and no joy kept on cutting out. All other stations working ok.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Alexa is really starting to disappoint me.

Apple calendar has been added in the Alexa app as a supported calendar!

I'd like to add my work calendar, which is Microsoft Outlook. Trouble is I work for a bank and security firewall probably won't let me do it. I tried to enter my email into alexa app and it says account not recognised.

Anyone know if I'm wasting my time or might there be a workaround?

    Is there an updated app?

Current one has been basically unusable since last update (about two weeks ago (

Edit - clearing cache seemed to sort issue.

    2fm not working on Tunein

    Anyone else?

Not recognizing FM104 or FM One Hundred and four , weather seems to be ok if you ask "What is the weather like in Dublin"

    I have reminders.

Does not seem to have option for repeating events (eg "put the bins out ")

    Following are working for me...

    Will it rain tomorrow?
    What's the weather like?
    What's the 7 day forecast?
    (All Spotify commands)

Radio seems to only work when I ask for XFM ...no Irish stations..but I don't really use it for radio

Newstalk FM gives me some rasta station

Edit: actually I got RTE 1 working by specifying RTE as:

R (are)...T...E... One (specifying each letter slowly)

So, as in a Kerry accent?

    More like a pirate accent!

Nope pronouncing RTE as are-tee-ee rather than or-tee-ee

But specify each letter separately (like half second each)

Use "Alexa, play Newstalk radio Ireland on TuneIn" and it will work.

Has anyone managed to get an address in or near Wicklow Town to work? If so, what?

    Hi Guys,

I have 3 Echo Dots in my house all working fine for the past few months.

But suddenly today all three have stopped working.

Alexa can tell time and give me a news update but if I ask her to play music (Spotify Premium) she just says "Playing music by <band> from Spotify" and then nothing plays.
*Also cannot get her to play any TuneIn radio stations.

All 3 dots have their own amazon and spotify premium accounts.

I've rebooted my router and all the dots. Spotify working fine for each account on phones/web.

    Any thoughts ?

**I can control the Dots using spotify but as soon as I ask her to play something else she says she will and then stops.
If I change over to another track on my phone and ask Alexa to Continue she picks up where the phone left off.

Happens me once in a blue moon with Echo and Dot. One day I asked her for a song, nothing played, I forgot about it. A few hours later she starts blaring music. No idea why it happens.

Thanks but that just brings me in a loop. If I click on download app from there it says not available in your region. But I've downloaded the apk already.

    I downloaded the apk already.
    This is what I encounter:
    1. Open App.
    2. 'Please set up an Alexa device to use this page. GO TO DEVICE SET UP.'
    3. I click on 'GO TO DEVICE SET UP' and select 'Echo Dot'
    4. Choose Language page- English (United Kingdom)' and click on 'CONTINUE'
    5. Begin Echo Dot setup page- I click on CONNECT TO WI-FI.
    6. Wait for the orange light ring. I click on CONTINUE
Result- IMMEDIATELY I get 'Unfortunately, Amazon Alexa has stopp..' It doesn't even take 2 seconds as if it's trying to connect. Options then are 'View Summary', 'Cancel' or 'Report'. If I click on 'View summary' the notice just closes.

    I'm using a Mi5s.

Anyone any ideas please? Someone mentioned that I have to pretend to be in UK or northern Ireland but nowhere do I see an option where I can do that.

    Thanks again,
    Pa.

Will it play any of the Irish Radio stations better than tunein?

Still waiting for SONOS to activate it at their end, should be done this week. I'll report back when I've tested it.

Maybe I'm not seeing the problem but can't you get a laptop or desktop and go to the address I gave? From what I understand it's the app that's giving you problems? You don't need to use the app if you use the alexa.amazon.co.uk and sign in.

Heck even if you're on mobile can you get the browser to pull up the desktop site rather than the mobile one? Apologies if I'm missing the problem as I'm a bit jaded. :)

I'm going to try on desktop this evening. Am excited at the (hopeful) thought of having it working.

Worked a treat setting up from Desktop- cheers.

I'm loving it for music alone.

Indeed, now able to access menu on Kindle, thanks to desktop mode.
