Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Right it's too close to our game to be running around in glee We need to win today with spurs and city playing after us the group could be really bunched up and we could in fifth right behind pool.

And BT go straight to Steven Gerrard for reaction. Delightful.

I'd also like to take credit for that

With the fixtures this weekend, a win today for ourselves would make this a great weekend. Just gotta keep closing the gap to that top 4

Man, that makes last week even more frustrating. Had we won, a win today would have put us above them. Ah well. A win today closes the gap, and is made better when you remember either Spurs or City (or both) will drop points today too.
No Martial in the squad. Apparently heading off somewhere on a plane today. Hopefully (if true) it is just a personal trip back to France rather than anything transfer related - even if he isn't progressing as I would like him to.

There was a rumour this morning (think it was DiMarizo) saying we had made a bid for Carrasso of AT Madrid.

Honestly, I think Martial will be gone in the summer. Jose just doesn't seem to rate him, and Martial is doing very little to help himself either :(

I thought martial has picked up his form in the past month or so he has done pretty well. I think he has a great future with us.

Stoke are a decent team so today's game is pretty tricky.

Delighted with the Liverpool result. I genuinely laughed.

Also don't agree that the result will mean nothing if we don't capitalise. Worst case scenario the status quo remains with Liverpool.

Just in so haven't looked at the team yet but believe Blind is in at CB which is definitely a concern.

Grand thanks for that. The lesser of two evils then.

Hope against hope that Fellaini is the deepest of the three midfielders but fear it will be Herrera.

This could be a pititol day in the season for Utd. With the Spurs City game later a win today would be huge.

Still not feeling too confident though.

Too many former Liverpool players against us today for us not to have some type of slip up.

    Oh dear.

Pogba may as well not be on the pitch. Shocking lack of effort from him so far.

A loss here today at Stoke wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. They are the definition of a team who play like their lives depend on it against us. Hopefully we get something out of this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

I always expected Stoke to score, hopefully we can level it up before half time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭Quandary

A turgid sluggish weak performance so far. If we dont drastically improve we'll get and deserve nothing from this game.

Is Mata drunk? I think he needs replacing already. He set up one Stoke attack, scored their goal, and just stood out wide like a fool when it was obvious Mkhitaryan wanted to play him through.

On a more positive note that was a great delivery by Valencia for Ibra.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,843 ✭✭✭GSPfan

    Mata ffs.

Well after that miss, it might be one of those days.

    Again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭Quandary

Herrera and Pogba don't seem to know where to be playing when Carrick isn't behind them.

Between Mata abandoning the right wing and Blind offering no help to Mkhitaryan on the other its too easy for Stoke to out man us on the wings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

Christ that was a poor miss. We are getting bullied so far. Ball retention has been brutal.

I know the Zlatan love is strong with United fans but he misses a hell of a lot of chances.

Holy Christ Mickey's shot is gone for the moon

Why are Utd even bothering challenging Crouch for the ball out around the middle, leave him off and then go in for the second ball.

No urgency at all yet to get the equaliser

We'll leave that until the last 10 minutes?

    That's not true

    Finishing is the issue
The urgency is clear with all the chances

Stoke starting to leave a few gaps now. Utd should get on the score sheet if they apply themselves properly.

Ibra should have tested the keeper as well, instead he tried to pick out Mata and Stoke cleared it,

Utd have been the better team, noting to show for it so far

Blind shouldn't have been taking that. That was a right footer's free kick all day long.

Is there a hoodoo curse on Pogba? The man couldn't buy a goal!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,978 ✭✭✭BenK

Don't think United are actually playing too bad. Chance conversion rate is just so bad.

Stoke have a fair few players who look like they won't last the pace. Shaqiri, Adam, Arnautovic and Johnson all look they are carrying a bit too much timber for professional footballers.

If he could buy a good performance, that'd be a start after last week.

Utd have gotten slightly better as the half wore on but still not good enough. The amount of missed chances is getting very annoying.
