Glanbia holding at 35c/l for October. Am I the only one very disappointed with this? Why can't they pay a similar price that other co ops are to their suppliers?

They had a stand in the ploughing explaining it all. They even had free cheese.

Any mouse will tell you to beware of free cheese as there could be dangers involved.

Not surprised glanbia haven't increased the price.given they are now on the gdt platform they will be able to spin even more now given the recent falls on that.they will probably pay out some bit of a bonus in January on the 2nd half of 17's supply.used no doubt to boost the kpmg milk audit on the comic

Be a great job if they did. would that be for 2016 milk or 2015 and 2014 too.!

Is it a coincidence the 1.75/litre story only breaks today, hours before voting on the re election of some of the current co op board!
Are the consultants, that got 600K last year, advising on re-election Co op tactics now also

Unfortunately there is an ever growing acceptance of agri processors using PR consultants to communicate with their suppliers. Unfortunately the PR in this situation usually only has one objective and that is to make the supplier the "poor relation" to the business.

    That is a fact.
1.75 cent worth a nice few pound to me if its for the complete years milk supply.
If they do that every year twil put the cat among the pigeons!
Still not the same as getting a fully leading price all year.

Is the concept of the 13th payment built into your contracts?

Is this payment to cover for the years 2015, 2016, 2017?

Is there an agreement now in place to solve a future disagreement re a 13th payment?

Is that 20% of future supply or based on a reference year?

How does that filter out through the coops KG? Does each of the coops have to offer that straight to the farmer regardless of their own cost structure?

No answers to first two question but i presume 2016 supply but all coops would be the same-mind you some coops had applied different criteria to top ups and bonuses

It is a good offer by the new management but falls well short of leading milk price.I think the farmers were looking for over 4 cents in total to make up '15,'16 and '17 .It will be intresting to see if it will be accepted .The co op board seem to be in favour of this settlement but where does it lead us on a leading milk price going forward. There is already up to 200k spent on solicitors on the arbitration with the plc sure this was poor waste of money so!!!

The Kerry coop board wont officially endorse or reject this offer on your behalf, unofficially the coop board/dairy farmers that are using the coop financial resources on the arbitration on behalf of all the milk suppliers were stone walled by the plc as they are many variations that lead to leading milk price figures being proved so you could be arguing till the cows come home, and the unofficial coop board committee know this as well so take this goodwill gesture by the plc as a welcome bonus

September milk prices.....these are worked from a slightly higher base than our 3.6/3.3, so the Irish prices will seem a little higher than we are used to seeing. Prices ex vat..

Well the big 3 are there Alps. DG is even 1.5c better than Glanbia!!!
People can extrapulate roughly where the other Irish processors are from this, thanks.

The most noticeable thing is how prices have levelked out now compared to 20 years ago when nz prices would have been nearly half of europeann

Aurivo lowering milk price by .5c. Is this Aaron Forde sending an Ornua signal to all farmers?

A price stabilisation would be the best possible outcome, for a while.

If you've any interest in the business of milk outside of the farm gate, from processing to marketing , opportunities and pitfalls, give yourself a huge treat and make it to Punchestown tomorrow to hear Craig Bell, a New Zealander with phenomenal global experience and achievements, and how to hold value for the primary producer.....set up the dairy farm in Brazil that was featured recently in the farmers journal...frowing 40 tonnes DM/ha, processing and marketing direct with no middleman....

This guy is an absolute peach...will be on early in the day...
