Gents - looking for a recommendation and deal for a 40ish" (something with a chassis <1m wide) - am looking user friendly UI for the folks, not so bothered with 4K / 3D etc would rather just get a solid normal HD panel.

Have always like Panasonics, going by your website you have the TX40DS500 / DX600 & 700B - what does the 600B have over the 500B other than Freeview play?  And what does the 700 have over the 600 (that Coronation Street watchers are going to notice!)

Any other suggestions around the £450 mark?

    Aqua,

you must have more of our stock with you than we have!!

Thanks for thinking of us yet again - and the Panasonics are brilliant!

The Panasonic TX40DS500 isnt 4k Ultra HD - thats the most significant difference and to be honest the 600/700 are head and shoulders better than the DS500 so if they do have circa £450 to spend then I'd write it off ( its a grand budget TV tho' TBH)

As soon as you step up to the TX40DX600 there is a huge jump in picture quality - the TX40DX600 is of course 4K ultra HD, but also has an additional HDMI ( Total 3) and most importantly it also has Pana's 800Hz BMR motion processing which makes the on-screen movement super smooth - its currently just £439 and its cracking value at that.

If you step up to the TX40DX700 there are very few technical differences visible straight away - but... the motion processing steps up to 1400Hz which again makes a radical difference, it gets an additional USB input (3) but most significantly is that the build quality & materials used on the TX40DX700 are really stunning - its a significant step up in price though as its £599.

...However, if you wanted a bit of advice, then have a look at the TX49DX600 - this is a really super TV - its great value at £549 ( its €699 pretty much everywhere in the ROI) but I can do it on a Boardie Deal delivered at £519 and that would include the 6 year warranty!

Thanks again and keep us posted and if they would like to pop an order in just drop me a PM or a mail with their number and we will give them a call and look after the rest for them,

Thanks John, sorry only coming back to this now as we're approaching payday...think the 40DX600 is the prime candidate as the 49 is too big for their room.  Any chance the DX600 is going to be on a special in Bkack Friday, or is there anything comparable going to be in the BF offers (e.g. LG and Samsung 40's listed under £400?)

Hi Aqua and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

The Panasonic TX40DX600 is down to £429 / €519 and I don't see it drifting much lower at the moment as stock is tight:
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-201943-viera-tx40dx600b.aspx

Our cousins in Richer England have already made it 'in-store only' but we have stockpiled a little pile of stock locally so we hope to be able to eave it available online at least tomorrow and possibly into the weekend.

If you could take a slightly larger screen - the LG 43UH603 is a cracker of a deal - its now reduced to £369 / €469 which is a stunning deal for a 4K Ultra HD HDR TV from a decent brand!

    Check it out here:

Thanks again and keep us posted and we will do our best to assist,

If the LG and Panny are both on display I'll call in this afternoon or this evening for a look see, it'll come down to usability on the UI.  Neither of those prices are going to expire tonight?
