This might be a silly question but there's nothing in the OP stating that votes will be revealed after lynch. Can WWGM confirm this? Or is this a potential twist?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,443 ✭✭✭tritium

Just to note obviously if we do that infernce step then the silent free vote becomes less useful as an option - id hope in the time to first lynch we can find some initial information to guide the village

Actually a good point. Given hillarys possible 2 votes later on its not clear how this will be handled

Another though on that- with hillary we have an extra seer peek. Could be very useful, especially if a wolf is peeked, but on thebother hand revealing is would lose the sherrif ability for the village if hillary is munched.

    1. Lynch race - run 2/3 people for voting based on suspicions given by the other
villagers - this is the most simple way of doing it, in past games it doesn't
work at the start but provides data towards the end of the game this option is
more for the long run without instant results
This is the usual way we've been going with votes. Which, while it worked sometimes, I think is useless at the start. You're basically picking 2 random people and having them fight it out. If they're 2 villagers you're just wasting time. Bad guys will have an easy time just picking random sides and it will provide no concrete information for later in the game.
    2. Vote for who you think is a wolf without telling the village - leaves the
Wolf's uncertain on how to approach lynching which could provide mistakes and
tells, dangerous from a villagers point of view as the village could lynch a
roled player on their team without given them the chance to convince the village
    of their innocence
Secret voting I don't think is a goer. Especially this early. With no one being able to directly address the reasons people are giving for voting for them, you're just shooting fish in a barrel. Reasons have to be given before the lynch, otherwise the wolves can just vote for anyone.
    3. Each player interviews each other with a bunch of general questions or
questioning posts they have made to find any tells or mistakes - could be hard
to pull off with some players not being as active but could also lead to
valuable information by getting information from posters that would not be there
    without this method
This actually isn't a bad idea for later in the game. However I think at this point there's no evidence from anyone that we can go on. None of us have Tigger's powers of insight so unless everyone answered all the questions we'd still be at a loss. We could get everyone to answer questions and those who don't respond could be put up for lynch? You're starting to target low posters again though which I think is unfair.

1 x Hillary Clinton - Hillary is working on her own. But she is part of the village team. She will get one peek in the hope of finding an ally in the village.

So Hillary gets only one peek. If she finds an ally, do they get a back room for plotting or does she just know somebody will argue on her behalf in a lynch race?

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭AnLachaCorcra

For what it's worth I think having a free vote at the start is the way to go, with everybody explaining their pick.

Later on when the village might realistically have somethin to go on we can worry about racing the likely candidates.

She must get something like a back room or she has no way of identifying herself to an ally.

Or is this just an opportunity for her to find something out and the 'ally' thing is a blind?

Good question. Id be inclined not to look for mods to clarify yet though. The less certainty the wolves have the better.

Don't worry, we have this covered if and when it happens.

Agreed. We don't need to know that right now.

"An unknown Mystic was found who said they specialised in finding those who were infected by Lycanthropy. The gene that turned normal appearing villagers into blood sucking Werewolves at night."

quick question for mods...is this referring to the vigilante/lee harvey or the seer? or someone else?

    seer I'd say.

Yeah, I'd agree here. Almost certainly the seer.
I'm also on the free vote side for the start at least. I don't mind if we do reasoning before or after the lynch, but we need to get some reason from each person, even if it is something flimsy.

    Just keeping myself entertained :pac:

Anything else to discuss? Can't even think about tasks because there's not enough posts (despite crosstownks best efforts - taking over from Tigger?) to really think about that.

    Any craic? Any weekend plans?

Fantastic. Just realised the first lynch is Saturday night when me and Mr Molly will be at the Ireland vs Canada game in Dublin. We'll have to get our votes in early before we leave for the match. :/

Does the ally find out who Hilary is? Or is it Hilary just knows that player is a villager?

Was just thinking there, has a bad guy EVER been the first lynch? I actually think I might be the only one from the last game. God damn you Tigger!!!

I'm just catching up on the thread - was working down the country earlier today, so only just reached the office now.

So we have until 9pm tomorrow evening to come to a consensus on how to deal with the first vote? I would vote for lynch race. There is no point going for those with low post counts - if someone hasn't posted at all, they might just get mod killed anyway.

Yeah, I'm just bored, hence listing the posters.

You guys are going to have to be extra careful not to give something away to each other, just in case one of you has a role/on opposing teams...

It is the Seer, having abilities to "discover" roles :)

You shoulda seen us on the bus into work this morning! Holding our phones away from each other so we couldn't peek at the other's PM. We've already discussed how to sit on the couch so we won't oversee each other's screens. :D So much logistics! I want this to work though so there'll be no cheating.

do we need a slow start or can we start the game proper tonight with a lynch if everyone has posted and understands before 9?
