Hi all, I'm looking to get a stairs into my new build in north county Wicklow. There's no shortage of joinery companies online that can do it but as I have no previous experience with any of them, I'm looking for recommendations.

We're looking for a basic, straight staircase, most likely red deal as we plan to carpet it and paint any visible bits. Square spindles (also painted) and a solid oak banister. Very straight, very square, no curvy bits.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

I know of a good joinery company in Leitrim who specialise in wooden staircases I know they do work in Dublin so I'm sure theyd cover Wicklow too.

When you do get a few prices from different joinerys make sure their pricing like for like get your architect to spec a design and component sizes for the stairs, for the joinery to work from.
I've seen too many cheaper staircases with 32mm strings 25mm threads and 10mm mdf risers pinned together with in an inch of its life ans also using white deal glue blocks that warp and crack as soon as the heating comes on.

I actually ended up going with a crew from Sligo to make the stairs (and a local joiner to fit it). Very happy with the quality of work as well as the price tag!

Any chance you can remember the name of the company or have any contact details?

Second this. They will make whatever you want. As far as I remember banister was done with white deal.

Straight basic flight is run of the mill for any half decent workshop/ joinery.

Its not rocket science at this level. And expense goes up for doglegs, spirals and curved.

This type of stairs should be priced very very keenly.
