    Just watched moonset in dead clear sky from Wexford. Only 1% illuminated, only visible through binoculars, and only if you knew exactly where to look (thanks Stellarium). Skinniest crescent (actually really only a faint line) that I've ever seen.

    Venus makes a nice conjunction with the next crescent moon on New Year's Day.
