So basically I'm just coming to the end of a holiday in New York, and I love it so much that I'm contemplating moving here. I don't mean for good or anything, I mean for a year/18 months, get a job in a bar kind of thing and then come home.

Problem is, I graduated in 2014, and any move won't happen until mid-late 2017 so that would disqualify me for a graduate visa. When it comes to the visas I'm absolutely clueless, so this is where you guys come in.

What visa should I be looking for in my situation? I'm told there is one I can get but I have to have a job secured before I can get it approved?

    Any help would be great.

Proffesional Career Training Visa might be your only option. http://www.usavisa.ie/pct

But seems that you're looking for bar work there's probably no hope I'm afraid.

Every time I visit New York and am about to leave, I have that same feeling. Just remember, visiting NYC and having fun for a few days is a hell of alot different to working there...it ain't easy.

http://www.immigrationlawyerfl.com/ - gives good info on the different types of visas that are available.
