2 Avintia Ducatis though it is widely reported that Tito Rabat has one of those seats - that leaves Hector,Baz,Lowes ,Bradl & Kallio for the final Avintia seat

It wont be Baz, Barbera is highly unlikely at the minute because of how his season has gone, Lowes will go back to Moto2. Leaves Bradl and Kallio or a rider bringing a hefty budget as was rumoured with Simeon

Feel sorry for Baz - he has done a good job this year

Can't see Bradley Smith staying with KTM either, he's too far off the pace.

Bradley himself has admitted that he has to up his game to keep his seat (though he has a 2 year contract) - changed engineers for the weekend but little impact

He didn't change his engineer, KTM did.
He's more than 2 seconds away from the next KTM rider. He may end up as test rider for Kallio!

KTM boss Mike Leitner has said as much - Misano and Aragon (where Kallio has a wild card entry) are going to be crucial to Bradleys future as a motogp rider - he has got to grips with the Michelins for the last 2 years

Seems that Rossi has broken his leg in a training crash. Same leg as his 2010 break and it's tib and fib this time. He'll be out for, I would imagine the next six to seven weeks which takes us through to the fly aways

I make a sincere good luck to you in @ValeYellow46 hoping is not that bad. I understand the pain, I feel sorry for him and for his championship

Unlikely to see any replacement rider at Yamaha unless Rossi is out for 3+ races at which stage Dorna will intervene.

Will be interesting to see if Yamaha give the tech 3 boys a few more toys in order to help Vinales title challenge

Bad news for the championship and for Rossi - effectively now down to 4 potential champions - highlights how quickly a season can change - Dovi,Marc,Vinales and Dani will give us a good fight to the end

Just as an FYI they did change the rules on the length of time where a team doesn't have to replace a rider. It was two rounds previously but now it is 10 days so the team will have to bring in a replacement rider. Zarco was one that I would consider a possibility if Yamaha want to see exactly how he is to work with and what his feedback is like but it would also surprise me to see him brought across from Tech3.

I think that it will come down to Katsuyuki Nakasuga or Alex Lowes. Kats makes a lot of sense but there is a Japanese Superbike date clash which could go against him depending on the importance Yamaha are placing in that championship. Alex would make a lot of sense because he rode the R1 last year, has ridden Michelin tyres, knows the tracks and has shown this year that he's a quality rider that the factory can trust

Thanks Frostie wasn't aware of that rule change - is the rule about engines still the same ? personally Lowes to me would make sense

Yeah, same reg for engines. From what I've been told so far Yamaha hasn't approached anyone so they may leave the bike free for next weekend to save the engine and then put someone on it for Aragon

As expected Yamaha will not run a replacement rider at Misano - Cal has also done some damage to his finger - tendon & a knife - but will be racing this weekend.

Great chance for Vinales now, Professor Dovi and Marquez will be to the for but I would not be surprised to see Dani win..........

Guess I missed it but was there a Rossie replacement yesterday? If not, is there a reason they could not get a rider or something?

No replacement, Yamaha are not obliged to get a replacement unless he misses more than 2 races.

Not any longer, the rule was changed for this year that a rider needed to be replaced within ten days of the injury ruling them out. Effectively this has meant that you can miss one race before a replacement is named.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 685 ✭✭✭legrand

thanks Pugzilla.  Guessing they want to have him ride/practice on the bike before formal race (otherwise potentially some valuable manufacturer points up for grabs).
Pity Eugene was not an option - that would have been sweet!

Really...???? No Rossi fans on here singing his praises for finishing 5th with a broken leg...

I'm not a fan but credit where its due....probably the best race in a while imo , pity Dani didnt get a better start...fair balls to George..

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭Pugzilla

Got my hopes up about Dovi.
Marquez going to win another championship, yawn....

i am a rossi fan and what he fine was amazing but for me imho i thought dani was the best rider in the race. granted he could of moved a bit sooner but once he was going he was unreal. putting in the fastest lap of the race!

binder in the moto 2 was great moving from 20th to finish in the top 5:eek:

Rumour has it Dani is getting a horn fitted to his RCV so if future he can honk when he's coming through. I'm sure the other riders will give him sufficient room to pass then.:pac:

No decision made yet, could still go either way

Ahead of the Japanese Moto GP Bradley Smith has been confirmed at KTM alongside Pol Espargaro - Mika Kallio is retained as test rider.

Ayoma is back in place of the injured Jack Miller while Yamaha test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga has a wildcard entry (finished 2nd at Valencia in 2012)

Important weekend for Dovi and Ducati - race weekends are running out for the 2017 championship

Was watching BSB race at Donington last evening (at least I think it was).  Short circuit (~48 second laps). Not quite a goat-track but looked pretty lumpy to me and has a nice hill/bump on the home straight with the BSB bikes popping wheelies as they went over it- would be really cool to watch the premier class try to manage that :D

Out of my seat for those last couple of laps and had kittens during last few corners.  Best result for the championship.  Fab result for Suzuki too.  What a year so far.

Both very good races - a lot of rubbing going on in the moto gp race - Rossi leathers had a tyre mark on the left shoulder and Marquez seat was cracked - only 2 more races now to go !

Looks like he's paying Marquez the favour for 2015.
I was fully expecting him to fight like a dog had Dovi attempted a pass.
