Power steering light on Vectra c 2008

    Hi guys.

    Hope you can help me out. Just got the car back recon gearbox fitted . But power steering fault light has come on . Steering very heavy. Now there was no problem before new gearbox fitted. Will check the fuses in the morning . But any ideas guys. Battery was disconnected for a few days. Any thoughts or ideas as I hate to have to bring it to main dealer

    Presuming it doesn't have electric power steering have you looked at the level of the power steering fluid, possibly gone dry.

    It dose have electric power steering as far as know. 2008 1.8 petrol engine vectra. Will do a check of the fuses and fluid levels in the morning. The old gearbox failed so it might have damaged something. Might need reprogramming . There's a lad having a look tomorrow night. I just want to see if I can set it myself. If it's something simple.

    Do you think the power steering was working properly at all since you got the job done? The warning light might have not come on initially but the fault could have been there.

    It was 100% before the gearbox let go.
