Unfortunately you can’t separate global warming and climate change from Trump’s consequences as it is an important and key issue of the administration that affects domestic and international policy. Unfortunately what usually happens is I make a comment in this thread about global warming/energy/EPA, which is germane to the topic, and it sends many here into a full blown tailspin, derailing the thread for awhile. I dunno, it’s sort of like the term “Niagara Falls’ to Curly from the Three Stooges. :p

Threads get derailed when fringe contrarians insist that the established truth is wrong and then provide no good evidence to support their position.

Climate change is real and anyone who thinks we can fundamentally change the composition of our atmosphere without affecting the climate is blinded by ideology or too ignorant to know how wrong they are.

And you think Obama, you was pretty useless in getting Americas viewpoint across the rest of the world, not only managed to get everyone within his administration to agree to this idea (something Trump is currently finding pretty difficult to do within his own administration) also somehow managed to convince pretty much every other world leader to sign up to a treaty that had the possibility of hurting their country financially if not adhered to.

This all based on nothing more than some dodgy science?

And yet Trump sold himself as the ultimate deal maker?
Obama was just being duped by the Chinese according to Trump.

Amerika is aiming for false equivalence. By repeatedly referencing the nonsensical 'flat earth' beliefs on climate change she tries to make it appear as if its a view that's on a par with the more accepted one.

Anything to draw attention from komrade Trumps worsening 'Russia' situation.

Also, this isn't really the forum for it. The topic of climate change is one for the scientific fora.

Well at least we promoted it to a science from a religion now.

Allow me to recap if I may and apologies for repeating myself but there is a point to my arguing about climate change here. A poster posted this link when defending Scott Pruitt's appointment.

The link leads to an article in The Daily Wire. The Daily Wire is a website run by Ben Shapiro who used to work as an editor at Breitbart (you may have heard of them). The article was a lurid rehash of a Daily Mail article about a climate change report. The claims in the Daily Mail article were proven wrong here, here, here, here, here, etc. ad nauseam.

Here's why accuracy is important. A retired scientist, John Bates, writes an article suggesting that the methodology used in a report by America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was not correct. This was picked up by a reporter, David Rose of The Daily Mail who wrote the sensationalist, inaccurate and discredited article having interviewed Bates.

This in turn was picked up by many right wing websites like the Daily Wire. It was then picked up by Fox who ran a piece under the headline "Federal scientist cooked climate change books ahead of Obama presentation, whistle blower charges". This headline is a lie.

Now we move to a House Science Committee hearing where the future of the EPA and other science agencies are under attack. Rep Lamar Smith, Chair of the committee and a climate change denier, used the false reportage to attack the NOAA saying that they had “deceived the American people by falsifying data to justify a partisan agenda”. He also used the false reportage to demand access to scientists' emails.

So: A disgruntled and retired scientist writes a blog questioning the methodology used in one report (since corroborated and validated) by a science agency. This is misreported and sensationalised until it becomes headline news across myriad websites, on Fox and is subsequently accepted as fact and misused by an influential politicians. Such as Lamar Smith and Donald Trump.

This is how fake news is made and used.

Is this your attempt at explaining the narrative that failed?

I heard it was the biggest inauguration ever, and the biglyest landslide victory ever.

No, it's an attempt at pointing out the hypocrisy in the fake news narrative that it solely comes from the right, while the left are just as guilty. It backfired bigly thankfully.

Ah ok. Are you ever going to explain what the narrative you claimed existed was?

What do you think of the fake news coming straight from the white house? The news which is actual lies, not them being tricked.

You refuse to back anything up and refuse to talk about anything that is provable about Trump and his administration.

What actually happens is whenever I answer a question, I'm met with several more. I've said plenty of negative things about Trump, I fail to fall into the hysteria of the liberal media.

How's the Russia conspiracy working out?

Hank that is a balanced article when one reads it all.
I suppose we must now credit DT with phycic abilities.

Like what, the liberal medias hysteria over Trumps comment on a Fox news segment about Sweden?

There was no hysteria. Trump's comment wasn't, on the face of it, about a Fox news segment; his comment was about what had happened the previous night in Sweden, which was nothing whatsoever. The media, understandably, wanted to know what the hell Trump was talking about.

Mind you, that latter sentence is a succinct description of the entire first month of the most farcical and ludicrous presidency in history.

As it turned out, he was talking about something he'd seen on the news. Which, again, tends to be a succinct description of almost everything he comes out with, since his entire worldview seems to consist of whatever he last heard on Fox.

It still astonishes me that intelligent people are comfortable hitching their wagon to someone who has already almost certainly firmly carved his historical niche as the single worst thing ever to happen to the Oval Office - and that's saying something.

    Always the victim.

Hows that narrative you refuse to back up going? Hows the lie about the inauguration going? Hows having to fire people for ties to Russia going? Hows having the lowest approval of any starting president going? What happened in Sweden the night Trump talked about? If you just made it up, say so. It isn't like you can make me think any less of Trump supporters, you're probably the main reason why I think attempting to talk and reason with them is pointless.

Do you not think the bigger picture should be to realize mass immigration from terror prone regions is failing miserably yet Democrats and their controlled media focus on downplaying it, rather than focus on what Trump said about his inauguration attendance?

No because people migrated en masse for centuries.

It's gas that you don't actually know that considering the knowledge you claim on the topic.

Not mass migration from terror regions where their ideologies fail to integrate into Western culture. Why has there been a rise in populist candidates in recent years if everything is rosy?

Most people in this thread will continue to deny any of that stuff happens, and instead focus on a minor slip of the tongue. So what if DJT mentioned events "last night in Sweden" instead of "on the TV last night about Sweden"?
The Fox news TV program DJT referred to was correct, and that BBC report of even more such events occurring the next day just show that such events are ongoing and have become "the new normal" there.
That was his (very valid) point.

I've been to the UK on and off over the last 10 years and I've seen how it's changed. I wasn't surprised at the brexit vote and I wasn't surprised Trump won. I won't be surprised if Len Pen wins and I won't be surprised if Geert Wilders wins, nor will I be surprised when Merkel loses. The blatant suppression of free speech and defending culture in fear of being labeled racist by the left is coming to an end and you can only thank the aggressive nature of the liberal media and spineless politicians for that.

There's no need to bring personal attacks into it citing personal experiences for the moral ground.
