And it was Congress which passed the bill last year allowing 9/11 families to sue the Saudi government and Obama who used his Presidential veto to try to prevent it. This makes it not inconceivable that immigration from Saudi Arabia could also be sanctioned in the future with Congressional support.

The setting up of safe zones in Yemen and Syria is certainly a step in the right direction . The reason Saudi Arabia is not on the ban list .

How would these "safe zones" stop Saudi terrorists exactly ?

You'd expect the State Department to have something to say about the slew of terrible actions coming out of the white house, but it looks like there the place is basically a ghost town, if this analysis is correct:

Seem like the plan is to push through as much as possible while the departments that might concievably push back are in disarray :(

I am thinking of those escaping IS who would benefit from safe zones .

Got links that Saudi terrorists pose a bigger threat than IS ?

Alien invaders might pose a bigger threat to US citizens than ISIS, since they've demonstrated limited ability to date, but Saudi terrorists should have clarified their capacity in that regard 16 years ago?

The war on terror continues. Everyone scared just the way the US Government likes it. More defence spending, more control over its citizens and don't ask any questions, it's to make America safer and great again.

no but to prove Saudi terrorists pose a greater danger than IS .

The positive side is that more refugees will be settled in Europe now. In some ways Trump's stupid decisions are good, as they will help Europe distant from US both politically and economically and put a pressure on US.

What would prove that to you? The fact that Saudi terrorists have killed vastly greater numbers in the USA than IS have doesn't seem to sway you, so what would?

Trump has no effect on that. There's a couple of elections coming up this year that will have a big effect though.
France's socialists are finished. Merkel is in trouble. And Wilders is gaining support in the Netherlands.

So your solution is what , ban Saudi Arabia and forget about a co operation on safe zones not to mention the economic cost .
This is the present a different elected President .
Maybe you just have a desperate desire to see trump fail .

I thought it was America first not refugees first. Saudi people are a threat to American citizens so why not act? And starting a trade war seems to be perfectly acceptable besides the economic costs, so what stops him?

I said the exact same thing watching the press briefing. He's going to have a banger. I wonder how long before he tells president trump to "shove your job up your hole." ?

It's like Trump read 1984 as a manual for good governance (just kidding, Trump can't read)

In 1984 every edition of the newspeak dictionary has fewer words. The goal is to dumb everything down and eliminate nuance.

Trump wants to eliminate regulations because he thinks it will reduce costs, but the devil is in the detail.

    Just take this weekends fiasco.

Trump tried to introduce a 'simple' measure to temporarily ban immigrants from 7 specific countries, but immediately this simple idea fell into chaos as the lack of clarity and detail led to different interpretations from different people and tens of thousands of innocent people stranded without any information and fearing for their future

It's in the worlds interest that the president of the USA and America succeeds. I disagree with how trump is handling things but overall I hope he succeeds. He is creating the mess himself.

Well given they are not much different I reckon Saudi terrorists pose about an equal threat. Or are you going to argue about the dangers of all those Iranian ISIS terrorists?

I am more confused as to why working with saudi arabia is no longer the worst thing ever now that Trump is doing it.

Yeah between Friday when he signed the order and Saturday evening I heard so many different interpretations of what it meant and which groups of people were affected. That's a bad state of affairs.

I don't think Sean spicer is a bad guy but having to come out and defend trumps madness and executive orders none of which seem to not cause hassle is going to get old very quickly for him.

Trump has targeted Somalia and Yemen for in-admission both countries that are already warzones. I'd say he would be putting the world at risk should known terrorists from these regions be allowed to emigrate to America. The US drone program in concert with Saudi Arabia is currently combating terrorists and pirates in the Horn of Africa. This ban has shown us the current drone policy is no longer palatable to America and the world.

Do you think immigrants from Yemen and Somalia were allowed to freely enter the US before trumps moronic ban.

America has extreme vetting as standard. Especially from countries like these. Trump kept saying "we don't even know who these people are"

He deliberately conflated illegal entry into America with legal migration. Banning visas will do nothing to stop the people trafficking and illegal border crossing.

And if they are in USA then they would have had to go through the proper channels. They way some people are talking(and not you kingbrian) before trump signed the executive order the airports was wide open. That's incorrect.
