He can be whatever he wants to be, so long as he's honest. He was preventing real journalists from asking real questions.

You're right, that is exactly what Trump and his team did in that video.

Mmm she never mentioned anything about safe zones that I can recall .

You can't? That's funny, because my memory is that the wingnuts reaction to her proposal for safe zones in Syria was that it would (once again) cause a war with Russia. So yeah, she did, and Trump poo-poohed the idea.

I see that Donald trump has annoyed the austrialians. Which has led to speaker Paul Ryan and other republicans to have to say that the relationship is a valued one. I mean at some point Paul Ryan and others will get sick of having to walk back stuff their bumbling president is doing.
John McCain had to phone the Australian ambassador and assure him that they were a deeply valued ally.

Trump was apparently shouting down the phone at the Australian PM and slammed down the phone after 25 minutes of what was supposed to be a one hour phone conversation.

You see any politician would have known to have a bit of diplomatic tact but trump hasn't actually got a clue.

The world will be more peacefull for the next 4 years. It will be necessary more time to see a war between USA and its small allies (England, Canada, Israel and some ridiculous countries like France) against China, Russia and its allies. The end of USA Empire based on terrorism and bombings will eventually happen but not with Trump as leader.

Apparently the poor old president was tired and cranky after a long day of doing his job
One person familiar with the circumstances on Saturday notes that President Trump's phone call with Turnbull came after a long day of conversations with other foreign leaders -- Turnbull was the fifth call after conversations with Japanese Prime Minister Abe, French President Hollande, German Chancellor Merkel, and Russian President Putin, each of which lasted close to an hour.

Trump, this source said, was feeling some fatigue after his first major bout of diplomacy. And while his earlier conversations weren't necessarily contentious, they did involve some tense moments. Merkel and Hollande pushed back on the travel ban over the phone. Merkel felt she had to explain the Geneva Convention to Trump -- a lecture a source has said Trump chafed at.

So poor auld donald doesn't really have the experience, temperment or attention span to be president? Why didn't anybody point this out before the election?!

I can imagine Merkel lecturing him on the Geneva Convention. :)

I sort of half pity and half envy his aides. Some of this stuff must be priceless to listen to and some of it must be downright terrifying. I mean who says anything after he's slammed down the phone on the Ozzie PM? Everybody looking at everybody else waiting to see who'll be brave enough to ask:

"Well how did that go Mr President?" :D

Apparently there is also no transcript of what Trump discussed with Putin in their recent call because the recording equipment was intentionally turned off.
So in a presidency that's already being compared to Nixon's on a daily basis and by people who were there, this is a real humdinger.

'Ilan Berman, vice president of the conservative American Foreign Policy Council think tank, reported that the White House turned off its recording equipment during President Donald Trump’s call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.'

While Donald Trump was talking to the world leader known by American intelligence officers to have worked to assist Trump's rise to the presidency, Trump's White House turned off the recorder.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/02/02/1629090/-There-s-no-recording-of-Trump-s-talk-with-Putin-because-Trump-s-team-turned-off-the-recorder

    That seems... suspicious?

    https://www.rawstory.com/2017/02/foreign-policy-insider-no-readout-of-trump-putin-call-because-white-house-turned-off-recording/

Again, its a site with a clear left-wing bias but I'd like to see some confirmation from more mainstream sources that is is a fake story before its dismissed entirely.

Daily Kos would be as reputable a source as Breitbart.

The GOP is going to end up tearing themselves apart at some point during this presidency. Interesting times ahead indeed.

Peter Sutherland/Mary Robinson are remarkably quiet on Trump have they been silenced .

    Today's reported stupidity.
Trump is fracturing Australian relationship hanging up the phone on the Australian PM.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/02/02/trump-reportedly-accuses-australian-pm-seeking-to-export-next-boston-bombers.html
...a deal that would allow mostly Muslim refugees rejected by Australia to be resettled in the US.
Seems like an abusive relationship ;)

Also I find it funny that the GOP can change the rules because the democrats were holding things up. And also if there is any higher power in this world Mitch McConnell will lose the next time he is up for reelection. He is one odious human being.

Also the GOP compliaing about the democrats potentially fighting the Supreme Court pick when they blocked obamas pick knowingly for a year is just unbelievable ****.

Well it was a refugee swap. So not as abusive as you might think. And apparently it's still on, although as seems to be the case now, there appears to be a different answer every time the question is asked.

But it doesn't stop you making statements that are untrue without verifying them first?

Then this morning at the national PRAYER breakfast in front of all these religious leaders he started going on about celebrity apprentice and how the ratings went to s**t after HE left the show, people were just looking at each other like WTF....idiot

Can't be bothered to post links he's not worth the energy :(

In a swap, you normally get something in return?

Basically these are a load of migrants that failed to get into Australia, but refused to go home. As a result they have been hanging around in neighbouring islands such as Papua New Guinea, in camps maintained at the expense of the Australian taxpayer.

The Australians persuaded Obama that it would be a good idea for all these migrants to move to the USA. Naturally the Aussies are not happy about Trump examining this bum deal retrospectively. The champagne corks have already been popped over there.

Perhaps Zappone could solve this problem by having them come to Ireland instead?
She could be as popular in Australia as she is nowadays in Calais.

It seems like Donald is desperate to get the media's attention to focus on "shocking" stuff he's saying in less of a political realm, rather than the appalling stuff he's doing and his inability to work with foreign leaders.

Just goes to show what a pathetic pandering little weakling Obama was, would do anything for anyone just to try and look good.

    Great move by Trump.

If Australia are rejecting them why should the US take them off their hands.

Yep. A bunch of Central American refugees.

Which is what happens in the deal:

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-australia-asylum-idUSKBN15F2RM
"Washington agreed on a deal late last year to resettle asylum seekers, mainly from Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq, held in Australia's processing centers on remote Pacific islands in Papua New Guinea and Nauru.

Under the deal, Australia would in return resettle refugees from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras"

Nor awareness of the various other media that carried her comments clearly. Heard her on the radio myself.

Yep. Basically "Your war on terror has landed all these people on our shores and they're your problem, not ours."

Edit: Actually when I come to think of it, that's probably what he said to Trump that had him slamming down the phone. The other option of having to hold on to the Central American refugees probably didn't sit well with the donald either.
