Second hand Volkswagen CC (diesel)

    Hi,

I'm looking for some advice. I do very low mileage - my office is less than 5 minutes away and some days I work from home. Just started a family as well so kinda housebound for the moment.

I'm thinking of buying a second hand VW CC but they're practically all diesel engines. I don't know a lot about cars, but I know my requirements don't suit a diesel engine. Am I asking for trouble doing such low mileage with a diesel? Or will it matter less because I'm buying a used one, probably with somewhere around 50 - 100k miles on it?

I've looked at some smaller cars, hatchbacks etc but I need the bigger boot.

    Thanks

Buy a petrol powered estate if you need a big boot.

You will have DPF issues that will cost money to fix.

Mazda 6 petrol hatchback or estate would be a nice car if you need a big boot. Cousin of mine has an estate version. Lots of room in them and I think he told me he gets 35mpg. If your mileage is small that's irrelevant I guess.

Only issue with any petrol car in that class is trying to sell it on when you've finished with it. Everybody wants low tax diesel cars now.

Yeah that's the problem. There's plenty availability of second hand cars I like but 95% are Diesel engines. And diesel is also easier to sell on. But I don't do a lot of miles so I guess I can't go diesel even if I want to.
