I have a free google maps app on my gear. The Here maps app is pretty good too. You can download entire countries on your phone so it's handy for holidays. One thing is that the here app seems to eat up the battery.

Anyone use this as a fitness watch? How accurate is the GPS on it. Getting mixed reviews.

I had this watch. Great smart watch but if you are looking at it for fitness dont buy. I sold mine and got a Garmin Fenix 5. Also look at the Garmin Vivoactive 3.

I'd have to agree. I have the original VivoActive and the Gear S2. The VivoActive is so much better for fitness and running, as well as having much better battery life.

Thanks for the replies..shame as it seems a nice watch....and while Garmins are great for fitness they are boring as a day to day watch

I use it for fitness and am very happy with it. How accurate it is I haven't a clue but it's accurate enough for my needs

Any ideas on when we can expect the Tizen 3.0 update to hit us in Ireland.
Seems like everywhere else has it except us and the UK. Samsung just said to "keep an eye on their page for updates". The page hasn't been updated since March 2017.

I've had 3.0.0.1 on mine for a few months now. Are you sure it's not on yours? Isn't all that different looking to the previous version.

Nope mine is definitely on 2.3.2.3 it came that way in the box.

I only got it for Christmas and when I try to update it via my S7 Edge it just says it has the latest updates.

Strange. Here's screenshots from mine, is your model number the same?

Same model number different software number.
    It was bought in DID.

I'm also still on 2.3.2.3. Same model number as above, SM-R760 and software version, R760XXU2BQC5. Just tried to update through the Gear app and as j14 says, it says latest updates installed.

So I'm not the only one...good to know!

Samsung have not been helpful in any way about this but some reading on the internet has led me to the following.

It seems like 3.0 was rolled out at the start of December but then stopped when they found an issue with battery draining.

They now have a patch version that fixes the battery draining and that is now being released slowly across all markets.

Ireland and the UK have not got the new patch yet.

This is the new Software Version that includes the battery fix:

    R760XXU2CQL1

Did your update just appear on the Gear App on your phone or did it just automatically update itself?

I've never updated the watch as I only got it last week.

Got the update for 3.0.0.1 now. Can I ask what kind of battery life people get from their watches? A full charge with moderate usage, notifications etc would get about 3 days on mine. Is that about right?

I just got the Gear sport. I'm wondering are you stuck using the stock android messaging app (Samsung Galaxy S8 which is rubbish) I use Go Sms pro and watch is telling me l have to use the standard app.

Anyone figure a way to disable the bezel when the watch is not in use? Or to increase the amount of turn required before it activates?

My sleeve opening the weather notification is annoying.

does this watch need to be matched with a Samsung phone, or any Android will do?

I see it on laptodirect.ie for 300€ at the moment, anywhere cheaper? Possibly not coming from HK or outside the EU. Thank you :)

Had one of these for a while but sold it. Found that whenever I wanted to look at the time it wouldn't show it and it would show the time when I don't want it. Bit bulky and easy to hit off things.
The Spotify app used to open on the phone constantly without me doing anything with it. Not sure why, but it was only when I had the watch on.
Was surprised at the price of it still, 18 months after it was launched.

I havnt been able to find my frontier since Christmas day :( not sure if it's lost in the house or outside. Took it off in the car on the way back from the sister in laws for some reason. Loved it but can't justify spending the lonely on another one if I don't know it's definately gone forever.
