I've been watching some youtube videos on the dark net. It seems pretty interesting. I want to visit some sites just out of curiosity> i want to know if it is legal first

Visiting the sites are not illegaly (mostly). If you are that naive on the whole thing, make sure you don't buy anything illegal because you will make a mistake and get caught. It's a brilliant resource and was way easier to get stuff from it years ago when law authorities new less about it, but its being watched a lot more these days.
