Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Me too! I'm enjoying seeing how many of our fellow boardsies are getting their postings.

Anyone know how many of the top 80 were Dublin. I.e. how many offers have actually been made cos I assume it's not actually 80!

I'm 85 but two regional counties so they will just pass me by I assume.

I heard this afternoon also. Late 70's.

I'm 94 and was just told I'm 10th in line now so it's still moving fast.
That's 10th in line for Dublin.

are you an existing CS? If so I presume it is the papers back from your own HR Dept. My HR were asked for papers before I got my offer

I'm sure if you get onto your current HR they will get them back to PAS considering you are next on the list

I don't know yet -I don't even know yet if I will accept this post as I have a decision to make re commuting to Dublin or staying put and hoping my regional panel moves -position today is one gone off it -no requests in and 2 ahead of me..PAS said I could be left on it or hear about other appointments in weeks so it's a big decision..

Do we have any sort of breakdown of offers by dept?

  • Registered Users Posts: 143 ✭✭ZolaGood

I'd love to know those of you who are thrilled with your departments-what departments are these?! I can't think of where I would be delighted with-revenue maybe or education! ...not that I'll get a choice of course !

This is a disadvantage of coming from the outside. Why would Revenue or Education be better than Finance or Social Welfare? or any other Govt Dept?

I suppose within the CS there are perceptions about which departments are better to work in-probably Mis-informed for the most part! But my choices are purely personal i.e. I worked in Ed before and liked the vibe there and am interested in the areas it covers. I have it in my head that revenue is very structured and you would be very clear on your role and the outputs of your unit...there are probably people working in revenue on this thread rolling their eyes at my naivety :) I cant think of any department I would absolutely hate though

The other aspect you'd have as a serving CS would be the interactions you'd have with other depts: I would've had a significant overlap with DOJ and DSP in my previous organisation and that's why I wouldn't want to go near DSP and would avoid certain units like the plague and jump at other ones in DOJ.

  • Registered Users Posts: 119 ✭✭coloneldecker

Am I right in understanding that in the interview you are only directly asked about 4 competencies (Leadership, Analysis, Management and Interpersonal) and the other 2 (Specialist Knowledge, Drive and Commitment) are just based on the whole interview?

  • Registered Users Posts: 271 ✭✭gics

    Yes that's right

Could you give an idea of why you'd avoid DSP? Could be one of my options!

In all honesty your not going to get a choice. If you turn down what they offer you'll be removed from the list for that region

True, "option" was a poor choice of words. But still good to know what you might be getting into. Also, for those on both InterD and Open, there should be 2 offers per region .

Where are the figures of two coming from?

Where are the figures of two coming from?

One from Inter D, one from Open? When I asked PAS about turning down Open offer, They said on phone there would be another offer, same region, from InterD. But I'd need to let PAS know directly that I had turned it down. But obvs check yourself before making any life decisions based on that!

Any advances on 80 for offers today?

  • Registered Users Posts: 900 ✭✭✭seamie78

have all the offers to date been from the open panel? if so there will be a big move on the inter d shortly to maintain the sequences of 1.1.1

  • Registered Users Posts: 335 ✭✭Redderneck

FYI folks, anyone hanging on in relation for First Sec roles - there aren't any. My Mrs, also an 'open' candidate just rcvd a blunt email from PAS to confirm no current vacancies at this level. If any do arise and her place on the panel is reached, then they will be in touch.

She's pretty down as her driving interest was in a First Sec/DFA role. So she now has to figure whether there's 'still' a reason to proceed with AP role.

What number have we reached on the panel as regards offers today guys?

I did it recently Bobby. I found that the panel were very fair. Know your examples inside out and you won't go far wrong.

Ya, i got that also, but being an existing CS, not surprised. I mightn't totally give up if i was your Mrs, they may have done that just to get queries off their back. There is an Internal promotion competition within DFA to Counsellor and that might open up a few !st Sec vacancies in due course. Also a few 1st Sec's might get the AP1 competition. In reality though, unless you finished inside top 10 on this panel, you can forget it entirely. Only a handful ever get placed as 1st Sec off these panels.

  • Registered Users Posts: 335 ✭✭Redderneck

She's top twenty but not ten, so whistling past the graveyard so!!! She'd been holding out some hope that DFA might need to recruit more than 'usual' numbers they might bring in to account for natural wastage, given the likely need to bolster resources as things like Brexit kick-in, with all its attendant impact on matters EU & Anglo-Irish. Ah well.

Congrats to all who made the panel, I had interview during the week and think I made a mess of it. I'm curious does anyone know how many offers have been made? I know from the posts that PAS are up to 80 but I wonder how many have they skipped because of regions picked. Plus has PAS mentioned if they will be starting to appoint from interD panel soon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 143 ✭✭ZolaGood

I don't know about the number of posts overall but I thought some people posting above said their offers are interD so it probably depends on the panel that the recruiting department owe the post to

A few questions blindsided me, I'm annoyed because it wasn't the hardest interview, really structured but one of the board was really focused on one item on my form and really dismissive of my work experience. Anyway it's done and I will just have to wait and see.
