Late 40s here and pretty delighted with that. The area I was most worried about I was miles ahead of the qualifying mark. You can just never know I guess.

Now do we where they are currently on the panel and how many are left ?

Does anyone know what number they’re on on batch 3 for Dublin?

There's at least 72 on the panel.

    Thanks for that info

Did anyone from last week's interviews get results? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,049 ✭✭✭gazzer

My Dept would be considered one of the smaller ones and in 2017 they took on 12 AP's. I was telling a guy in my HR division about where i got placed. He said loads of AP's are been taken on across the Departments

The last batch are into the 90’s on interdepartmental. Started drawing from this in January this year. I think they have nearly exhausted this panel.

More candidates called to sit etray etc... interviews scheduled for May

Panel due to expire on 31-10-2018.

Didn't pass the interview. Out of curiosity did people score greater than 60-80/100 in many competencies?

    Leadership: Fail

    Analysis & Decision Making: Fail

Management & Delivery of Results (including Drive & Commitment): PASS

    Interpersonal & Communication Skills: PASS

Specialist Knowledge, Expertise & self development: PASS

Is that not a bad thing for this batch ? Another panel to draw on before the 31st ? Less chance of higher numbers getting placed?

Have I gotten it wrong? Ta.

No, everyone placed on the panel today will be called before the people who have just been called to do exams/interview in May!

Just to clarify, there's at least 60 on the interdepartmental panel and 70 on the external.

not looking good if your a high number on the external then? 130 AP jobs in 6 months? would they get through that many jobs in that time :(

But surely a lot of the 60 interdepartmental people will be on the open panel too? There is usually an overlap isn't there?

I would imagine 99% of the Interdepartmental panel are on the Open panel as well.

Before Johnboy completely breaks my heart :) can I ask a question again...would PAS not have some idea of the likely numbers needed before this panel expires? I don't know how this operates but from a common sense approach it hardly makes much sense to conduct tests in April and more interviews in May if you don't anticipate needing something approaching the numbers you're placing on panels?

Exactly. From what I am reading AP's were filled from Batch 2 from beginning of January this year and they are already at number 90 on Interdepartmental and that panel is all but exhausted. So if that many posts have been filled in less than 4 months I would be very confidant that everybody on this new panel would be called.

I guess no one has heard back from PAS then? I'd like to think most of this panel would be placed. They placed at least 120 last year didn't they?

Bascially yes, PAS are not going to go through all the work of interview panels etc if they didn't think it would be required

Thats not a guarantee, but they would be based on an estimate

Can anyone explain the clearance process please for an existing civil servant? Do you need to provide anything?

I think they just check with HR for sick leave etc.

They check sick leave and your PMDS mark and that’s it.

You need to get a satisfactory in your annual review.

You need less than 56 days sick leave in the last 4 years. However, you can apply for any one-off recurring ilness to be discounted (for instance a broken leg). Also if you’re sick leave was generally over two years ago with a remarked improvement since then you **might** be able to argue that you’ve shown a huge improvement and whatever health issues you had have now been sorted.

Thanks for that! Do you have to submit your education certificates or anything?!

If it’s a mandatory requirement for the job then yes you do.

PAS only check eligibility at the point that they’re clearing someone for the job.

If you have never had to produce your qualifications before then you’ll have to do it now.

Bobbyandsand81, would you or anyone here know if Pas told you that you were being assigned to Dper but no location as yet could that possibly be Peoplepoint whom are under their aegis or if it was they would tell you that you are being assigned to the nsso which also is Peoplepoint?

PeoplePoint is part of National Shared Services Office (NSSO) so it would be advertised as such they are now a seperate entity to DPER.

Although nearly all DPER APs are AP1 so it could be OGP which is part of DPER.

Anyone have a guess as to how quickly this panel will be placed? Would the top 40 expect to be in clearing by June?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 395 ✭✭whampiri

Only PAS can answer that and that will depend on the demand for the grade. PAS won't indicate this as they may not be aware yet of the need or the speed of drawdown from the panel. Accept that you'll be in your current job for the next 3 months and be surprised if they call you before that.

Do people get these positions without a third level qualification?

Is it a requirement for open / interdepartmental?

Anyone here been successful without a level 7 / 8?

If you search PAS using the competition ID you'll find the original info on the comp.

It said a third level degree would be an advantage so it's not a strict requirement.

Does anyone know at what stage PAS are at with the last batch? I think someone mentioned that no.112 (of an approx 140 batch) was going through clearance around 6 weeks ago...

I understand that the old panel is exhausted and PAS are ready to take from the new panel already! Once they complete administrative work clearance will begin.

Was wondering myself what the placing scores were for getting placed on the panels?
I fell way short, failed 2 competencies too, knew it wasnt a great interview... plenty of work to do!:o

Consolation is that it was nice to have gotten this far in a competition I had given up on over a year ago!

Practice makes a big difference. You need to get comfortable and confident, and having a few goes at it will often result in significant incremental improvements in performance and outcomes.

Are you an existing civil servant? I find they're not that arsed about qualifications ; they want you to meet all the tick boxes on the 6 competencies.

@sheepstealer or anyone else that contacted PAS in relation to clearance, has there been any response from them?
