Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Arnold getting caught out of position a lot.

Bloody hell - that midfield just stinks. Can agitating for a better deal while playing like that?

He's not. Klopp fullbacks don't play deep. He's asked to push forward with can supposedly covering... Can hasn't done that. He's been so bad.

Better than the first leg not like that was hard but still another poor half of football, are we really this dependent on mane? Worrying stuff.

Can looks exhausted. He's played too many games and is in shocking form right now. Killing us offensively and defensively. And I'm a fan of his on general.

    Can can't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,952 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

There must be something going on with Wijnaldum to not have him playing, he's been better than Can every time he's played.

Hendo is on the right, Can is on the left.

Can isn't consistent enough. Not sure he ever will be.

Southampton playing well it must be said.

Klopp seems to have a Can sized blind spot! Rest//drop do something with him but he's been muck for ages now.

Saints have dominated that half, we're in a severe rut, really really bad.

Hendo is the centre. Can is on the right... coutinho in the left. Lallana tip of the diamond. Not sure what game you're watching...

God help him if we get Champions League football so.
James Milner has played way more football but isn't looking heavy either.

I actually think milner does look tired. Can has played every game recently. Very little recovery time.

    Sturridge

    Lallana Coutinho Firmino

    Can -- Hendo

    ARGH OUR DEFENCE DOESN'T MATTER!!

Of course you'll conced goals if your attack consists of running into a cloud of 12 defenders on the edge of their box every single time and then get broken on.

We're an attacking team. Why is that the best we can do?

Say what you want about Can but he's one of few in the team who had the amazing brainwave to get ahead of our attack with the ball and behind their defence and actually deliever some quality from out wide.

The only even remotely good bits of play have happened when we've gotten out wide. Are we goldfish that we forget that 4 seconds later and immediately try and tapdance our way through 8 defenders in the middle of the pitch again?

I think Milner has gotten far too easy a ride this season. Given the paucity of options out wide, with Clyne so poor in the final third, we need a LB who actually has width and doesn't just play wrong-footed left midfield.

He does what he can, but not being left-footed is too big a handicap for him.
Or we could get someone to actually play on the wing and then it wouldn't be an issue.

Trent's done well but if an 18 year old rb is your only threat then something's gone wrong.

    Firmino is wasted there.

Sturridge isn't working. I'd hook him asap

You could see with his little bit of footwork early on the ideas are still there.

He just can't execute them anymore. Not in a team that gets as little space as we do.

Can has played well tonight. Need Firmino up top. Bring on Origi for Sturridge & put him out wide.
In the summer we need another attacker with pace. I would take Traore from Boro who has frightening pace & dribbling even though he is raw.

Why the hell do both Henderson and Can need to be within a couple of feet of each other before receiving a pass. Our CB's are pushing past them with the ball for f*ck sake.

If we're scraping for positives, he's been better than Saturday.

Can needs to be replaced. He only goes backwards or sideways.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,989 ✭✭✭Potential Underachiever

Hopefully Klopp put a rocket up them, the hug thing is not working.

And had a long summer with a disrupted pre-season through injury, and still only 23... probably not that surprising really that he's suffered a dip in form

You think they deserve hugs after what they've served up for weeks now? That's idiotic imo.

Funny that can just took a throw in from the right...

Regardless the important point is that Taa wasn't getting cover from midfield he should.

I rarely expect him to score these days tbh.

He seems reluctant to pass to Firmino or any player he considers competition. It's a lack of professionalism that contributes to him not being likeable.

He rarely expects it himself and that's his problem.

His behaviour is typical of a striker off form. If he can score one or two it can change a lot.

Henderson & Can off and bring on Wijnaldum & Origi.

Try making a sub, no? Stubbornness is costing us, poor game management.

Well we are all over them... why change. We're unlikely to get more all over them than we are...

We look toothless. We've looked toothless for the better part of a month.

I would put it down to Klopps inexperience with heavy fixture list but he was here last xmas.

Something has crept in to the squad. Not fear but complacency, or something else.

In fairness, it's not working. A change is definitely needed.

Origi could have came on 20 minutes ago, we have been sh1te. Klopp has a habit of waiting way too long to make subs, I thought that has been well established?

We need a new striker in the summer. We won't get one good enough long term this window but Sturridge is done. 100% done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

    Coutinho off!?!?!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

    Lallana has been f*cking poison.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,414 ✭✭✭Lord Trollington

You'd have to blame Klopp for this defeat.

Pretty much hands a cup to Utd too.

Astonishing stuff - ref missing corner, decent peno shout and then Soton score.

Not that should be allowed to distract from obvious issues with this set up.
