Wow, I genuinely wasn't expecting that. Fact is that it's the right call. Problem is that you have a number 2 keeper replacing a number 2 keeper for the number 1 spot. I hope that the spell on the sidelines has helped Mignolet.
We have a really poor record at the Riverside - a good time to improve on that.

Tempting fate but no matter what happens tonight it can't be as bad as the time 'The Rodgers' replaced Mig with Brad Jones and he dove the wrong way for Van Persie's shot.

As was said here recently, Karius could become a great keeper, Mignolet probably won't, but right now Mignolet is better than Karius has been for us.

Mignolet did little wrong this season to get dropped but the manager gave his signing priority when he returned to full fitness which I think everyone expected including Mignolet who didn't throw his toys out the pram and waited for his chance.


Now he has it the rest is up to him to prove why he was so highly rated.


We have two highly rated keepers even if we as fans don't think there are great properly completing for the starting place so hopefully it will help improve both of them.

It's taken a while but Jones voted best keeper in the Erediveise. Hopefully Karius has had his wobble and will now become just great.

In fairness it's the correct call, but the thing about Klopp is if he backed Karius and played him it would also have been the correct call.

A friend of mine took some form of hallucinogens before a game when we were younger. Almost as soon as the game started the ball was lumped up to him and he stood there while it came down and smacked him in the nose. He was subbed of with a broken nose but still had a better game than Brad Jones.

Yup, the injury list - Matip, Coutinho, Can, Grujic, Sturridge and Ings isn't that long and four are short term (well three - Sturridge is impossible to estimate) but sure makes a difference.

Karius, Moreno, Lucas, Stewart, Alexander-Arnold, Ejaria, Woodburn.


No disrespect to any of them but jaysus we are stretched badly
