Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was expecting and hopeful Firmino would step up for his 2nd season, over the course of 20 odd games he hasn't, had an unreal spell and a just about spell.

    Much like last year.

Certainly not. I thought it was weak the first time I watched it, but I entirely changed my mind on the second viewing.

Ziggy is still a real Phil Neville though.

2nd season was great, I remember watching the 1st season, and telling everyone it was good, showed potential but that next season will be our season.

The only reason it seemed weak is because most people expected another take on season 1.

No TV show will ever top season 4 though.

If we get past Plymouth in the replay BT will be showing the Wolves game at 12.30 pm on Saturday, 28 January.

So who will start on Sunday.

    Mignolet

    Clyne
    Matip
    Lovren
    Milner

    Henderson

    ---Wijnaldum
    ?

    Lallana
    Coutinho---

    Firmino

? Can or have either Lallana or Coutinho drop deeper and play Origi in the front three.

Or play Moreno at Left back and bring Milner into midfield.

Sturridge in not suited as a starter for this game. Great option off the bench against tiring legs.

I'm pretty sure it will be

    Mignolet
    Clyne Lovren Klavan Milner
    Henderson
    Can Wijnaldum
    Lallana Firmino Coutinho

Hopefully Can stops with way too many touches in midfield.

Chelsea dropping Costa after falling out with Conte. With the form he's in, he'll be a big loss.

    tbh

Wij and Henderson have enough about them to be able to cover Clyne in the event of a non-defensive effort from Sturridge, but his ability in the attacking area would be a distraction for the Utd defence. Origi as super sub. Can has had a mare recently, so I wouldn't start him in a midfield where we'll need a lot of energy.

Allegedly he is also being offered £30m net from a club in China that might be distracting him.

Hopefully he will except it and go.

Costa bust up with Conte is an interesting twist in the title race. We really need to beat Utd on Sunday. Pile the pressure on.

Probably won't be getting excited then.

    Mignolet
Clyne - Matip (or Klavan)- Lovren - Milner
    Can - Henderson - Wij
    Lallana - Coutinho
    Firmino

I'd say that's the side, Matip maybe making way if not fit enough.

And I don't mind admitting it but I won't lose any sleep if this is a draw.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭Alonso77

I'd like to see the team that started at Chelsea (with Firmino replacing the absent Mane).

That was an exceptional away performance.

    Mig
    Clyne Lov Matip Milner
    Wij Hendo Lallana
    Cout Sturridge Firmino

Looks about right - I'd settle for a draw in truth, but a win is better!

Fancy a diamond formation myself but no suggestion Klopp will ever use that.

    Mignolet
    Clyne-Matip-Lovren-Milner
    Hendo
    Can--Wij
    Lallana
    ----Firmino-Coutinho

For this game I think getting our midfield right is priority number 1.

I'd rather bring Origi in for Can and drop Lallana back.

As it is, he hasn't been playing any worse than Can has and the threat in behind will keep them a bit more honest.

Can's played 180 minutes in the last week. I can't imagine Klopp has done that with starting him this weekend in mind.

For me, Can and Origi's form at moment is not good enough to start such a huge game,

Firmino Cout and Lallana interplay could be key and Sturridge is due a big performance.

Klopp may go with Can in mid with Bobby starting in middle up front

Can's form isn't good enough but Klopp may go with Can?

Yer hedging your bets there pal! :)

But yeah I know what you mean, what you would do versus what Klopp will do.

I think starting Sturridge is a big gamble. Start Can and play Firmino up front and if Studge is needed from the bench it makes more sense for me

I think we've more chance of Can putting in a big performance than the other guy.

Sturridge has been far more useless than Origi this season.
At least Origi can show pace, strength, can hold the ball up and is something of a direct threat out wide.
He's chipped away with the goals as well.

Sturridge isn't even in the debate for me. I very much doubt he would've started during the week if he was going to play Sunday, whereas we've seen the likes of Wijnaldum, Lallana, Origi, Bob and Lovren used sparingly.

This is the line up I would expect if Hendo and Coutinho are fit enough to start we can only hope, Would love to see Matip but it's probably a game too soon. I reckon if he goes with a recognised striker It will be Origi not Sturridge.

Agree, and would enjoy it, but he's far more likely to have a game like the other night or Burnley where he looks like someone who won a place in the startling line up.
