We are comfortable enough.....just have a lack of cutting edge at the moment

How's that not a foul on mané? Lad dives in front of him and doesn't get near the ball

Southampton making this very difficult, closing down very fast.

We don't seem to be as pressing as usual ourselves. Lallana is quite a loss. It was similar last game when he came off at 70 mins ish, tempo dropped a fair bit.

I'd imagine the travelling out in by Coutinho & Firmino might be effecting them to an extent too.

Ref not great so far. Southampton getting away with a lot of silly challenges .

Reminds me of the game against Man Utd when we were struggling to put passes together and lots of players looked off form.

    Ref is awful..........

Passes in the final third are poor, no one there for crosses

    Quiet game from Milner

Henderson selects the wrong option too often for my liking.

Fantastic bit of play, what a tackle van Dijk

That's why we're signing Van Dijk!

    Van dijk is some player.

I ****ing love Matip. One of my favourite players already

Nothing more frustrating than a CB trying to force a 60 yard pass

Lallana's energy is hugely missed by Liverpool.

    Thought Henderson never tackles?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

We are playing well. Southampton are doing great defensively , need to give them credit rather than knock our play.
We look good, waiting for a Southampton mistake.

:pac: very funny, in 1v1s he's beaten far more often that I'd like.

Klopp needs to find a solution.......very slow in build up, need more direct running........Origi maybe?

Origi and Studge around the 70 minute mark if we are getting nowhere...

    Or simply increase the pace?

Why are people always calling for subs at early stages that rarely happen.

Southampton are terrified of this liverpool side. No support for Austin. It should be an easy clean sheet.

When Coutinho gets the ball we all stream forward. Makes sense as giving him options gives us good chances to unlock the defence

Flip side is when Coutinho loses possesion, more than any other player, we are at our most vulnerable to the counter. If I were Southampton that's how I'd set up; block forward passing routes for our other players without committing to a full press, waiting until the pass goes to Coutinho, then press on him and counter.

Watch out for it in the 2nd half when he loses possession, our shape is worse than when anybody else loses it.

Virgil is an excellent defender, will be hard to get past him and Forster today. I also think Boufal is going to be an excellent PL player. Only shown flashes today so far but he's dangerous. Romeu playing well but he's a card waiting to happen

The team looking a bit rusty, too many players dropping deep without players running in behind them. More than likely we'll see Sturridge for Couthino soon enough.

Big time. Can and Gini linking well at times though.

Firmino work rate still incredible and the lad just back from Brazil

As I said, the team look a bit tired, I dont think pace is a switch where you can just flip on and off.........

Are people always calling for subs early? Just offering an opinion and solution to our slow play.

It's your typical game after those wretched internationals.

Coutinho is the weak link in attack, not able to ride challenges or get off a clever pass.

26 pts heading into this after 11 games, an away point would be fine here.
We'll get a chance or three in the 2nd half too, one or more might go in :)

Yea, perhaps the 60 min mark, if we cant increase the pace we know after 15 mins....

This is one of those days that scrapping out a 1=0 win is all that matters, saints are happy at 0-0,wouldnt be a brutal result for us either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,911 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Can't see us scoring in the next minute.

I really don't see how they look tired at all.

Southampton are difficult to play against.

Firmino brushes van Dijk, oh another foul, no talk of him going down too easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,911 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Should have been faster and more clinical there, Coutinho was to casual.

Id say he is just bolloxed after international break...

I always find we play better when Klopp stands in the technical area rather than staying in his seat.

Foul anywhere else but the opposition pelanty box.
