    Hello.

Looking for help, buying a house(second hand dwelling) but there is no power. Previous owner seemingly closed his account so no power now.

What is the process of getting the power turned back on, and does it cost anything to get reconnected.

    Cheers

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your message.

Could you advise how long the property has been without power?

If the property has been disconnected for less than six months, and no wiring has been completed at the property, then Electric Ireland can arrange an appointment for the power to be restored. The appointment would be arranged with ESB Networks, as they would complete the reconnection at the property. ESB Networks complete this work as they maintain all electricity meters, regardless of supplier.

There is a charge of €79.45 for this reconnection.

Should the property have been disconnected for longer than six months then a wiring certificate will be required before ESB Networks can reconnect the property. In this instance, Electric Ireland would put through a request for the reconnection, then your own electrician would submit the wiring certificate, and ESB Networks would then be in contact with you directly in order to arrange an appointment.

A charge of €79.45 would also be required in this case.

Additional charges may be required, however this would be outlined by ESB Networks. If you would like to contact ESB Networks regarding any additional fees that may be required, their contact information can be found online here.

If you would like to arrange a reconnection at your property with Electric Ireland, we would recommend contacting the Electric Ireland Customer Service team on 1850 372 372. They are available to call from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.

If you would like to avail of savings, we would recommend contacting the Electric Ireland Sales team on 1850 305 090. They can be called from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5:30pm on Saturdays,

Should you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige
