    Hi,

My sister is looking to get some painting work done on the inside of her house and she got a quote which she thought was expensive, but she's not sure. The price is for labour only, she is supplying the paint.

She has a large sitting room, about 35 ft x 18ft. Also a sun room, normal size with a vaulted ceiling. And also an office, normal size.

The ceilings are light cream, the coving is white, and the walls are dark cream. She is sticking with the same colours and will be getting a getting 1 coat on the ceilings and coving, and 2 coats on the walls.

Also 3 doors will be getting 1 coat of gloss.

The price she was quoted was €1,250.

Does that seem excessive or normal? Any idea how long it should take?

Get another quote (2 if possible) and you'll have a better idea if it's expensive or not.

Yeah it sounds about right really. Obviously it depends on the condition of the place, but that's roughly what I would price it at.

Obviously some people will charge less, but you get what you pay for..

Got another quote for 950 euro, but she's hiring the guy who quoted 1,250euro because she said he seemed more professional and didn't mind paying the extra money for that.

If she's happy with that then she's better off. In what way was he more professional?
