    Hi

Just wondering - maybe someone knows if this is right.

I bought a nissan qashqai and i have it back from UK for almost 3 weeks now. VRT is being done on Thursday - it was the earliest appointment i could get.

When i did the calculations on VRT I printed it all out to know exactly the cost of the car as you do !!!

Not that i can do anything about it now .... but the calculation on the same site is coming in 340 dearer.

Have our wonderful government / revenue hiked it up - if they did wouldnt we read about it somewhere !!!

Try appealing it and you could be succesful. In order to appeal you will have to pay the higher amount first, then wait and hope.

The VRT calculator is just a ballpark or estimate figure at the time of enquiry, there is no guarantee that's the figure you have to pay when you present the car. Revenue have been known to lower or higher VRT figures at their own discretion. If you feel it's too high then you can appeal afterwards but you will need to produce proof of this. As it costs nothing to appeal it's worth doing anyway but you need to pay the original quoted VRT amount first.
