Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cost of replacing bushings?

    Ahoy :)

I had my 2007 ford focus (120k kms) in for a service yesterday, and the dealer noted the wishbone bushings were worn, and quoted me €760 to replace them. I thought this sounded excessive, but as i know shag all about cars i wanted to check here for advice.

I would like to shop around, but a guide on price would help if anyone here has had it done themselves.

    Thanks :D

Was that a main dealer? Was it for all 4 axles?

    Seems incredibly pricey.

I'm guessing that price includes replacing the wishbones and bushings all round rather than just the bushings themselves. That price would be plausible for the cost of the parts and labour from a main dealer.

Either way I wouldn't be bringing a nearly 10 year old car to a main dealer unless it was for something that could not be fixed elsewhere. Bring the car to a good recommended independent mechanic and get the bushings examined and replaced if necessary for a fraction of the price.
