Whats the best monitor to plug her into - yes i know very subjective.

Gaming like TF2 , budget sub 300, size 27 inch or so. I don't think I have G-Sync so if anyone has any pointers

Kompletts current list doesn't give me any help and all of the 'best monitors 2016 guides' are a bit us-based.

The 960m is best suited to 1080p, and it generally won't push more than 60fps in most games so a high refresh rate monitor is also kinda wasted on it.

So your options are generally just any 27" 1080p panel. TN or IPS (PLS and VA are similar tech to IPS).
TN has faster response time.
IPS has better colour reproduction and viewing angles.
