As opposed to what? Voluntarily providing every asshole with another platform to tell her that she's fat?

Well, she didn't listen to the National Health Service in the UK....and they're professionals.
    (Also, I'm fat-you can't block reality).

There's a comedian named Samuel J.Comroe-he's got Tourettes (the twitches and movements-none of the noises or other aspects in more extreme cases). He doesn't disable comments on youtube, and voting is allowed. He's heard it all.

She's a comedian-whatever we say at her on youtube, she'll hear ten times worse at a club.

YouTube comments are a worthless cesspit and she's not obliged to provide a platform for anonymous people to abuse her. People have every right to protect themselves from online abuse.

Also, if you're brave enough to hurl abuse at a comedian in any decent comedy venue, without the cloak of anonymity, you'll usually be escorted off the premises very quickly.

This is equality-many comics use those comments as material.

I've seen comedians weave a heckler into their act-or absolutely destroy em.

I've seen comedians plant their own 'hecklers' in the audience. Equally, I've seen more narrative-driven stand-up shows ruined by people heckling incoherently (cos of not having had the foresight to bring their own amplification system along) and interrupting the timing and flow at a crucial point in the comedian's material.

Owwww....just...wow, that was brilliantly funny. Have laughed at that far more than her material.

She reminds me of that one Sofia Hagen- the 'comedian' who went insane when the NHS in the UK had a campaign saying 'Obesity causes cancer' or something, and she called it fat shaming...

Facts aren't fat shaming. No more than saying smoking causes cancer is victimising nicotine addicts.

And yeah, Hagen is a big girl.

Also 'strong independent feminist woman'....so she disables ratings and comments on her videos.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxcm7wyQbYY

Glad that the NHS stuck to their guns and reiterated their statement about obesity.

I've never once seen a heckler removed from a comedy venue, decent or otherwise.

That's because the punters and the act usually make them feel stupid. However if you were to abuse an act similarly to youtube comments of course you'd be ejected

saw it once in the laughter lounge and it was about 10 of them, on a stag I'd imagine. all wearing ponchos and sombreros sat right up the front abusing the comedian. All of them tossed out after some serious scuffles with bouncers and bar men. right pack of cnuts.

I was only there once but I'd imagine this happens quite regularly at the small comedy venues with amateur comedians with no big name. Nobody is going to shell out €50+ to go see a big name act just to abuse them.

Sometimes the heckler is funnier than the comedian.

I mean if comedian insults audience member or their spouse or something for cheap giggles why not have a go back?.

Seen people bring up a female "comedians" weight before after she mentioned guys appearance.

She acted like she was assaulted!.

One of these "its socities fault Im fat" types.

No shame in being fat, shame in doing nothing about it!.

Like I said-I'm a heavy guy, but I know I'm heavy, I know its not healthy. But even then, I'm conscious of some stuff-I don't smoke, takeaways are a monthly (if i'm lucky) thing. There's some issues with mental illness and 'eating one's emotions' too. But those are my issues to deal with, not a symptom of society.

Hagen seems to think we should 'accept' this problem-but I don't think we should. I think we need to figure out what the hell is causing it. There are aspects such as 'not being able to cook' (parents and children don't learn proper nutrition), these so-called 'low-fat' foods that are worse than regular fat foods, and also teach people to understand it's 'not just eating too much' that leads to people being overweight. Like, I saw one presenter/ gardener saying 'teaching kids to grow stuff will lower obesity' and I thought 'eh-no'-I mean, it's good to know horticulture. But there's so many root causes for obesity, growing veggies isn't going to help.

Sports could have been a good one-but then again, the amount of coaches who abuse and mock little kids pushes them away from sports. As does pressure to 'win'. And one bad injury, and you're putting on weight.

Bill Hicks was a master of this

I've only ever seen footage of him completely losing it with a heckler. Like most comedians, he genuinely hated them.

Bill Hicks was a master of this

Pryor and Carlin did it first. And better.

Actually there's a really good standup of Jamie Kennedy destroying a heckler. He used to be a really good comic.

He's not Irish, but it's tragic how far his career fell-Scream to Son of the Mask...what a fall.

Another American comedian, Eddie Pepitone leaves the stage and takes a seat in the audience to heckle himself:

Going out dressed like that is just contrived zaniness to project a certain image and attract attention to mask the deficiencies in her comedy, like a hacky 80s standup wearing rainbow braces.

Bernard o Shea. I don't consider him a comedian but RTE do and he's not even the slightest bit remotely funny. Just an idiot who plays the fool all the time. 2fm unfortunately is on in work in the mornings and Jesus it's just torture listening to that lad saying anything to get a laugh, and failing. His colleagues don't even laugh.

Bit nasty and cowardly, going on Twitter to anonymously tell her.

As opposed to anonymously voting for her here?

One thing I've noticed is that people tend to get really angry about comedians they don't like. I never really see this amount of anger or bitterness towards musicians or actors that people dislike. I don't get it.

I fcuking despise Ed Sheeran and think he's a stain on modern music.

Yes. Taking the time to tell a comedian that a bunch of people on some website think they're 'unfunny' is unpleasant. Doing so facelessly and anonymously is cowardly. Just because you can be a dick, doesn't mean you should.

If they were given airtime on private tv like TV3 people wouldn't give a fook, it's them being brutal yet getting airtime on state run media that you must have a licence or face prison that's the issue.

I've seen the same angry comments directed at people like Michael McIntyre (I'm not a fan btw). It's just that I've noticed that there seems to be a certain level of vitriol reserved for comedians, more so than for entertainers in other fields.

Oh there is plenty who get angry about musicians/actors and far more than the numbers who give out about comedians. Look at Ed Sheeran and when he'll be here for the concerts next month and all the whinging that will happen then.

There definitely would. People whinge about TV3 as much as RTE...

Oh, of course people complain about music that they don't like but it just seems to be worse when it comes to comedy.
