We had our anomaly scan today at 21+2. Everything measuring fine apart from an increased nuchal fold. Measuring 5-6, with one measurement above 6. Very shocked, and just wondering if anyone has experience of same. We have an appointment Monday for another scan with the consultant, trying not to drive myself mad over the next 4 days.
    Thanks

I don't know much about it but I have two friends who got "bad" results on the nuchal scans and their babies are perfect. One had an amino test which showed it was all fine. The other didn't want the amino and got a blood test- it wasn't available here at the time so she travelled up north but I'm fairly sure it was the same as the harmony test we have here now. Her results on that were good and she decided that was enough

    Good luck xx

Thanks for the reply. Waiting for another scan and then we will decide what to do. Well with advice. As our results are borderline, it's do hard not to worry and Google!
    Thanks again

I heard the nuchal fold test can be quite inaccurate. I hope it works out ok.

I've also heard that it can be quite inaccurate. In the U.K. they tend not to measure NF after about 16 weeks because it can be so off the mark. I really hope everything turns out ok. Rather than relying on another scan or prolonging the wait you might like to think about going to a private clinic? The likes of Merrion Fetal Health offer emergency scans to people with concerns.

    Thanks for the replies.
I'm so confused after all I've read. Especially as I know it's not measured in some countries after 13 weeks.
We are seeing a fetal medicine specialist on Monday and that's the quickest she is available. The scan is far more detailed and she will advise from there re further testing. I'm really hoping for the best but very hard as I know I could have weeks of waiting for results from follow up tests.

It's good you're being seen by a Fetal medicine specialist. A detailed scan should tell you more and if they do recommend or suggest amnio I don't think you'll have to wait long for the results. You mentioned a measurement of 6 which is just borderline high/normal. That combined with positioning and a 20-week scan means that the odds are really in your favour and any clinician will be keen to put your mind at ease ASAP.

My husband is very positive as the result is borderline do with the baby bring just shy of 22 weeks it's a questionable result.
So glad your baby is well.
We have been treated very well so far and the midwife who performed the ultradound was very positive as the results are very borderline.
Hoping for the best Monday and if not hopefully the amnio results won't be too long of a wait.

I was sure you were a guy for some mad reason! Hopefully Monday will be conclusive and put your minds fully at ease so you won't need any more tests. All will be well xx
