Changing stereo in an Audi - Help required.

I have an '07 Audi A3, and i'm looking to swap out the standard Audi concert stereo system and replace it with a Sony DSX-A400BT. I am considering getting Halfords to do the fitting, but from what I understand, it should be a relatively easy task to do myself.

It appears that I have a Double Din stereo fitting, and the Sony DSX-A400BT is a Single Din stereo - pictures below of both my current setup and the Sony I am buying.

Can anyone advise me what exactly it is I will need to buy to allow me to swap from the Audi concert to the Sony, and how easy a process it is? I assume I need some sort of modified face-plate for the stereo, as the Sony is half the size of what is coming out. Would anyone know?

Some of those Audi audio systems are fully or partly amplified so you might need an amplifier bypass harness or some wiring to be done directly in order to fit your Sony radio properly. Since you'll need a facia panel adaptor anyway I'd suggest a visit to your local car radio installer & not Halfords. If you're in Dublin I'd recommend I.C.E. in Ranelagh if you're southside or Safesounds in Drumcondra if you're northside.
