Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moving to Charlesland in the new year and would like some advice on broadband and tv packages. Need a good broadband service. Have narrowed it down to Eir or Sky. Would appreciate feedback on experience of either services.

Wouldn't touch eir with a barge pole.

I'm with upc / virgin media and great service.
Practically no down time and the customer service is very good.

If your budget allows it I would recommend UPC

What do you need the internet for? Would a sim card set up work for you?

Thanks for your reply, didnt consider Virgin really but looking at website it looks good and this morning have asked around and got good reports too. Now to scan site and decide on package. Great getting feedback before taking the plunge.

customer service has been outsourced and it is now horrendous.

Apart from that, I agree with everything else.

Until recently I'd have agreed on the UPC/Virgin Media - fast and reliable: I've been with them for years now, and in Charlesland just over 2 years now with them too. Recently (last few weeks) there have been numerous outages, and my very ancient Horizon box is on the fritz, but they won't upgrade the hardware (I've heard tell of other customers being told that new hardware comes attached to a new contract, and I don't want to be locked into a new contract). I've been having epic battles with their customer service: undertrained, all they can do is repeat scripts at me. Finally had a small victory in that they're sending me a dedicated router to try to resolve my internet issues, but I'm not hopeful in general.

So, my reason for resurrecting this thread: anyone using Sky in Charlesland area?? (they're my next choice to move the whole bundle: TV, phone, and Broadband): they're way cheaper, and seem to have less customer service nightmare stories than Virgin (no customer service centre is really 'good' or pleasant to deal with, so I'm trying to find the lessor of the evils here). I'm trying to get an idea of whether they're stable enough in Charlesland- I don't need Virgin's 360mb package, Sky's 100mb is more than enough. My main concern is stability and reliablity. 360mb means nothing to me if it's down to 0.9mb (or even nothing!) when I most need it...
